AEM Cold Air Intake

Since I just recently ordered the AEM Cold Air Intake for my LS, I was wondering if anyone had any problems with the CEL. I just wanted to known, just in case so I won't get any surprises.

Thanks

i got the aem cai four days ago, installed it and it was great. the next day my cel came on, i took car into dealer and they said it was throwing a too lean code. on the way back home i stopped at pepboys and got a cheapo air cleaner with a plastic shield around it hopefully it will restrict airflow enough to stop the trouble code.

I have that problem. I put the aem intake in about a month and a half ago, and my light came on. It went off after 2 1/2 weeks but came back on again. But last night and this morning my car hesitates when I give it gas. It is around the second and third gear shift where it hesitates. I took it to the dealer and they said it was a lean code and mass air flow censor. When my car hesitated last night and this morning I took it back to the dealer and they said they wouldn't touch until I put my old air box back on. I don't know how to get rid of the light, or do I need to buy something to take away some of the air flow.

I got the CEL about a week after I installed it. The CEL actually came on the day after i put my magnaflow cat-back on.. but it dont make sense that the exhaust would make it go off since it is after the 2nd sensor... so im pretty sure its from the intake. However, this is pretty much what I am told on these forums and I believe it. Don't think I can go wrong.

The CEL went away for about 8 hours ... now its back. Went to the dealer and they want 35 dollars just to hook the machine up and like 12 bucks for every 15mins it takes him to figure it out, however they wont fit it.. which makes sense.

Car does run fine.

The dealer won't touch my car and last night and this morning my car hesitates when going from second to third gear. My light went off once and came back on and has stayed on. It just won't go off. I don't know what to do.

The dealer will touch mine, just to see what the computer is saying other then that Im on my own. Not sure if it's worth the 35 bucks to hook it up and 12 dollars every 15 mins. I assume its the lean code, so why pay 35 bucks ... might as well by my own handheld thing or whatever.

It is a lean code. I have the code on my slip I received from the dealer. They also said it is a mass air flow censor code as well. The lean code is a PO171 I think which means the air is too lean. Is your light still on? How long has it been on. does your car hesitate too? Mine just started hesitation last night.

mine did for a little, shifting was a little rough(mine is auto). everything has cleared up tho besides the CEL. so yea the light is still on. Next nice day I get I am going to take the intake off or just double check everything. Dont know what else to do, I rather not have the light on.

If you're throwing the 0171 just leave the intake where it is...there is nothing wrong with your install. The MAF is sensing the increased air-flow and your chip thinks you're running lean. There is no way the air-flow has increased to a point where you can do any damage to your engine. Continue driving it as it is and it should re-learn/adjust to the fuel curve sooner or later...it however won't happen overnite .

I've got the same thing as d.hall; the CEL was on as soon as I got my AEM CAI installed, but after a few days it went off. Periodically it goes on again; I just hope that if something wrong does happen I don't disregard it as the lean mix code.

Mine is a lean code. My light has been on for a month and only went off for a day then came back on again. I don't think it should take that long to adjust to my car. How long does your light stay on for XM15?

My light stayed on for about a week, and then it turned off for about one day. It was off and on for a couple weeks, and every once and a while it was on for a few hours. It hasn't been on for over a week though, which is a good sign.

I think there is something wrong with my censor for me to have this problem. Most of you guys had yours on for a short time and then it went away. Mine has stayed on for a month so I think there is something wrong with my maf censor.

I had to clear my inbox out...do you remember the exact code numbers you were throwing when you got your car read? I know you've mentioned running lean which is a p0171 but I can't remember what the other one was for your MAF. This could potentially help you track down whether or not you have a faulty sensor.

They just gave me the PO171 code on my slip from the dealer. They didn't say anything about my MAF the first time. They said it the second time. I have a call into aem. they are supposed to call me back today or tomorrow. I was told today that there is no reflash program out for our cars yet. Any idea when one is coming out? I know these programs will fix the problem too.

Is there any kind of cover out there that I can put over my filter to restrict some of the air flow so the code goes away?

This really has me baffled.

I had my CEL for a day or two. The second time i disconnected my battery it has been out since but that was only 2 days ago. However, I drove it after that for about 20 minutes(15 miles or so) Drove to work and from work yesterday and made it to work today and no CEL. So since the third time disconnecting the battery I drove about 150 miles.

You could always try putting in the stock system back in
