Aem FI/C

So, who on here has actually used the AEM fuel and ignition controller? I've seen quite a few people that say they are going to buy it or have bought it, but I don't remember seeing anyone that has done it and given a review.

Just wondering.

I can only see people in the Tuning section talking about possibly installing it. I can't see anyone with results.

xcobalt05x seemed to be the one that got the furthest with it, but then he went with the Trifecta tune. I think his car is broken though because of some of his friends joyriding in it.

i used it....its still wired up, but im using a trifecta tune now as well
it worked fine...you really cant adjust anything in closed loop or adjust when open loop begins (aka removing PE delay), but the fueling maps were simple to adjust. ignition was easy as well. Its a really easy interface, it just doesnt let you adjust many parameters. I'd reccomend it if you got around PE delay. Im keeping mine just to make small tweaks to my tune if need be, or if i do more mods later that require more fuel or less timing or something...

Also, just a note, you cant tune via MAF either, since our MAF is frequency based, and the AEM FIC is voltage based.

I wonder. Would it be beneficial to get the Trifecta tune which would adjust things like the rev limiter, speed governor, PE delay, and timing and then later use the AEM?

I know that the AEM can only retard the timing. So if the Trifecta tune is for 92 octane, that gives more timing range to work with when you finally use the AEM. And some of the parameters that aren't covered by the FI/C are also already worked on.

Thoughts? I know that wouldn't be the cheapest way, but would it be the most versatile?

it would definitely make your changes less drastic if you were to get a base tune from them. it wouldn't be a bad idea...not super cost effective but it would work.

lol

For some reason I didn't see that. I know its not cost effective, but that sounds like the best way to get a custom tune.

I'll just store that away for later.

Thats what im doing, but using my SMT-6 which is already installed. I will remove PE delay, up to 7k rev limit, remove governor, and delete rear 02 sensor. I may also have him do my timing once i get the timing and fuel dialed in with the SMT-6 first. My plan is to run the HAHN intake manifold with secondary injection. I want control over my car, thats why im sticking with the SMT-6 for fuel delivery.
