there is no airbox mod for the 2.2 you just replace the filter with the k&n

yes you can remove the lower half of the air box, the snorkle if you will and you will get a shade better throttle response and you will get a nice sound. I did it to mine and i am very happy. That and i also dropped in the k&n filter.

I just did it last night and love the results. You remove the 2 10mm screws holding ur headlight in. Then pull your headlight out and away from the car. Now you have 2 black 10mm screws holding that big black plastic mounting cage in, those screws on on top by the fender, and the bottom 2 10mm screws are silver towards the bumper. Then take that cage out. Next take off the 10mm nuts on the bottom of the airbox and the torx screw that is behind the top support thats boxy metal. Atfter that remove the bottom of the airbox and then use brute force to pull the snorkel out the front where the headlight was. We bent a peice of metal and really had to flex my bumper to get mine out and its huge! It's liek in the picture above except its like really big in real life!!!! Hope this helps, Dan!!!
