I don't think theres much differnece between the 2 Cobalts anyways and I own a 2.4L and I know those 2.2L's can hang if the driver is good. Good kill, was the alero an auto? I imagine it was eh?

i'm not saying that it couldn't keep up at all, but in the same tone, with a good driver, a 2.2 isn't THAT much slower than an SC

I can see a manual 2.2 keeping up with a auto 2.4 as i've only seen the autos run around 15.7's to 15.9's....trapping almost similar speeds all around 88ish I think.....idk I may be wrong

I have to remember I'm a 5spd 2.4L and have yet to race a 2.2L either auto or stick.. I just seem to run into base Cobalts and I go slow off the line. I think GM did a good thing with the Cobalt in offering 3 engines and so many options! Plus I believe the 2.4L on a dyno is only putting down 150ish hp.. Well something like that anyways..
I would like to see a race between a 2.2L and base Civic.

Good kill!
Not to hate but the auto 2.4's are trapping mid 15's in the 1/4. The new injector swap and tune has us running flat 15's with automatics.
And yes a 2.2 can kick ass! My 2.2 ECO Cavi ran 14.6's with just bolt ons and a port job on the head that I did in my garage.

I own a 2.2 auto, all stock, and I've driven a 2.4 auto that had just an intake at the time... honestly, I didn't think there was *that* much of a difference between the two. Granted, I'm going solely on the 'seat-of-the-pants' method here, but it wasn't a huge difference. I could see a 2.2 keeping up with a 2.4 if the L61 had a decent driver.

nice kill. umm yeah i have owned both a 2.2 and 2.4 currently im driving a 2.4. my old 2.2 got totaled(****** ******* who hit into me) my 2.4 is totally different that the 2.2. one thing that is great with the 2.4 is tuning..really none for the 2.2 balt. a good 5spd driver could possibly keep up with a auto 2.4ss. see im auto but my car is tuned. so it wud b a decent run for a 2.2 to race a tuned 2.4. im doing the injector swap soon(thanks jackalope) and then put on full bolt-ons. im looking hopefully to be in the 14's. that the only thing holding the 2.2 back is the tuning. both are fast cars for what they are. dont get me wrong..both smoke many cars and can give some good runs.
