another dumb question

i was thinking about my heat exchanger idea being a waste, so i thought of something else.someone said that the ls/lt bumper is restrictive and doesnt let mcu air in. so what if i was to extend my cold air intake to the center of my bumper, but then get a small intercooler (paint it black to not stand out) and mounted it in the center and then moved the filter to the driver side of the car. so that when you pull in air while your driving the intercooler cools the air and therfor makes colder air to the engine. but the only thing i dont know is if it will cause a restraight on the air getting to the engine?

any ideas

btw im bored at work and dont have anything to do so im commiong up with ideas

That's the nice part about the LT and LS bumpers... the grill hides it better and yeah... painting it black would help.

i dont think he is, its like an intercooler but it just slips into the middle of the intake pipe, and the intake is on the drivers side instead of passenger side. when the CAI sucks in its cold air as it goes thru the pipes it gets even colder and then that cold air goes thru the "intercooler" and as air passes thru the grill, then thru the intercooler, it gets even colder which can cool the engine better because colder air is hitting the engine.

if i understand correct

Basically the Intake is placed outside of the hot engine bay in a spot that receives direct air-flow. This theoratically means more air + colder air = More condensed air = more power.

An "intercooler" is a "heat exchanger" duh...

It is not possible to reduce that temp of the air lower than the outside air temp. You would have to use an air conditioner, which would run off of the engine, which would kill gas milage and make the engine work harder and run hotter. It does not work.

i can read mr. 2.4l intake manifold.

its not another dumb question, its the DUMBEST.

go ahead and put it lower, i hope you like having a water locked engine.

the amount of hp.... .5 to 1hp that you would gain from extending it is senseless, and an intercooler.....dude, put on your flame suit, cause it will never stop if u even attempt something as silly as that.

He could just add a by-pass valve to the intake... then no hydro-lock.

From my knowledge... it has been done, and has been said that there wasn't really enough gains to make it worthy. You would be safer just running a cold air intake with less chance of doing any harm.

I would just keep with the nitrous only I am not understanding you correctly.

You want like the intercooler style intake, and just move your nozel down towards the intercooler?

I'm sort of new to nitrous, but I thought you wanted it closer to the TB for less lag between shots.

it would be alot less power but wouldnt it make alot colder air comming into the engine? also wouldnt it be alot less harmful to the engine instead of a direct shot

I understand it wasn't the response you wanted, but that is some funny ****. He wasn't being that much of a dick. That is why I love these forums is reading this stuff. You are talking about using cold air to cool your cold air I can't quit laughing honestly, no offense it made my night.

I see what your getting at now, but I do not believe that the air would get any colder after the nitrous injection. The piping is a much warmer path then the nitrous's tempature, only allowing the air to actually warm up.

This is just my opinion. But it's like when you take liquid nitrogen and blow on it, it doesn't get colder. It would only be as cold as it already was.

I think i've confused myself now.

how is it funny, have you seen the ls bumper? where does the cia get its cold air from? it doesnt exactly get air push directly to it so i wanted to add something that would help

His response is funny. Your idea is not. I was just saying people were hard on him. I love reading the comments like that. The concept it put in my mind was funny.

The comment does kind of hold true.

You can't cool cold air, with cold air. It has to be colder air.

here dude, put it this way. your time and money are better spent in other areas then trying to do a heat exchanger on a non-boosted car
