Anyone with a 2007 Cobalt??

I have a deal on an ECOTEC engine from a 2007 Cobalt. The engine is a 2.2 liter and it comes with the entire harness and ECM.

This will be used for an engine swap and I was wondering if you all could please tell me:

1. is this an L61 ECOTEC?

2. will HP Tuners be able to 'read' the ECM? What about making engine tunes? Will that work? I looked at the HP Tuners site and was confused because they don't specifically show a 2007 Cobalt with 2.2 engine.

Sure hope somebody can help me... Thanks guys!

Can you self tune with trifecta? Or does Vince have to send you a tune to upload every time? I literally know nothing about it obviously. I understand HPT, but not Trifecta.

Thanks guys. This is not what I wanted to hear... OH well.

OK - let me ask this question then:

Is there a special ECM that will indeed run the L61 and is compatible with HP Tuners? I have no problem changing the wiring. I've been reading of folks modifying L61's - what ECM do they use?

thanks again!

we tune our ecu with trifecta, it data logs the engines performance and then a specific tune can be written for that car with all of its supporting mods, for the L61 it has shown to be Extremely effective
