I figure that when the turbo cobalt comes out. The sc cobalt is going to sell for CHEAP AS HELL. and i might just have to go and trade for a NEW 07 ss sc. Im sure the dealership will be trying to get rid of every single last one.

You will get a better deal on an 06 from this site then you will from a dealer...

PS. this is NOT a Technical Discussion, should be in the lounge, or General

Nope because it's dumb... negative equity! And the SS/SC's won't be as you say "dirt cheap" they are still a $20k+ car, soooooo, nope!

they are slowly coming down in price, since an 06 with 58k miles on it for 14500 last week it is already sold. I looked at it and walked around the lot came around and a guy and his wife had it out for a test drive and I haven't seen it since. On auto trader within 200 miles of me there are 8 2005-2006 SS/SC for sale under 16,000 with 20-50k miles on them. So yes the price is bombing out already. Sorry for the guys who paid 22k for theirs!

Yeah... 58,000 miles on an 06.... that is like 4 times what it should have.... okay 3 times!

I have 12,039 on my 06! And I have had dealers offer me between 18-19,400 for it!

And that is why it's 14,500

And you are paying 15K for a car with no warranty... prolly a worn out clutch, brakes! Yeah, good investment!

so you are saying at 58k miles your car is car is worn out piece of crap? I've had my LS for 3 months now and have 5531 miles on it. I drive at least 60-70 miles a day 7 days a week. This time next year it will have at least 25k on it.

2005-42k miles 14,400

2005 42k miles 14875

2006 with 22k miles on it 15900

Next year they will be even lower, along with the 2007s dipping into the 15-17 range.

If you are saying that the SS Turbo cobalt is not going to affect the SS S/C average value, you are very mistaken. However, to what extent it does has yet to be determined and we wont know for awhile yet. What ever you may think about the SS Turbo and how good/bad it might be compared to the S/C means nothing because the way that GM is showing the Turbo SS makes it look like its 10 times better compared to the S/C model, and thats what every one sees. As a result buyers on the resale market are going to be saying "Na, its a S/C model, ill wait until I can find a turbo model." Not all will be saying this of course, but there will be some none the less.

as history shows.....the price will go down...briefly...then the rarity will come out as people wreck them...and the demand goes up the price will shoot back up....remember the supra's, the stealths, the 3000gt vr4's, and now the srt-4's....being a limited production run, they will start becoming collectors item cars...good luck striking a deal at a dealership for the ss/sc...dealers will get what they can out of them...if they can't get it from you...they will get it out of the next "joe" that comes in....especially in military towns.

did the cavalier drop in price when the cobalt came out? no. will the hhr drop in price when the hhr ss comes out? no. did the 2.4 drop in price when the 2.0 came out? no. follow?

it it's dropping in price it's because people don't want the damn car. while it's going for less, it also means you will get way less on your trade in.

Trade in Value: 18,100
Privite Party Value: 20,900
Retail: 22,400

This comming right from Kelly Blue Book on a 06 Ss/Sc with 8k miles. Mine has 8k miles on it.

it it's dropping in price it's because people don't want the damn car. while it's going for less, it also means you will get way less on your trade in.
instead, the cavi got discontinued...and if you look now....even with super low miles they are way cheap...i had an 03 and only got 4k on trade in....the HHR will not go down in price because the SS version is new to the lineup...they aren't discontinuing the LS, LT, LTZ etc....the 2.4 and 2.0 were released around the same time with the 2.0 being the top of the line so to speak of the cobalt lineup...look at the history of other vehicles that have been discontinued....the SS/SC is discontinued thus it will become a collectors item...yes while dealerships may sell them cheaper to make room for the SS/TC, once all are off new dealer lots, they will shoot back up in price...the srt-4 neons did the same thing...this time last year they were around the 14-16k mark, now i can't find one for less than 18k with decent miles on it...just as you probably won't find a supra twin turbo for less than 20k still or a 300zx twin turbo for less than 10-12k, or a vr4 for less than 10-12k...and yes the cavalier price was reduced by almost 4-5k for the base models...

the 04 cavalier started at an msrp of $14,045 for a base model
the 05 cavalier (last production year) started at a msrp of $10,325

the 03 srt-4 retailed at 19,995 and still retails at 15,295...still high for such an older car

there is a trend....

a ss/sc will never be a collectors item

the prices dropping and staying dropped are on cars that people don't want. that's why they dropped. same thing with the cobalt. people don't want a ss/sc. i've said it a million times, besides the people on this site probably 90% of people think the car is a joke and would neverbuy one.

and how are you comparinga cobalt to a twin turbo supra??

DoOd, who is comparing to to the Supras? I know I didn't, this guy was talking about 15K for an SS/SC with 58k miles on it.... and I said it was stupid!

And that my lower milage car has gotten offers FROM dealerships for around 19-19,400!!

also, the ss/sc won't be a collectors item, there's way too many, and not enough people to want a car like it, more people like the ls/lt/2.4's thatn the ss/sc's(majority of ppl are older and HAVE the money to buy these things, while every 16 year old wants a ss/sc or a ss/tc. Also you're comparing last years prices to this years, theres inflation, and the fact that raw materials are going up in price, ex: bullets-made of lead, copper, brass, gun powder, last year were 8 dollars a box for 30-30 winchester, this year are 15 dollars a box for the exact same thing.
