Anyone who replaced the stock 2.2 exhaust with the SS exhaust..... do you have noticable gains? Does it sound a little louder? And is the SS/NA exhaust the same as the SS/SC?

 

I installed the GMPP performance intake, GMPP extrude-honed manifold and the GMPP performance exhaust (from CED) on my 06 2.2. It sounds great and I out-accelerated a stock 06 2.2 easily (both autos)! That was proof enough for me that it works

 

I have it. I felt a slight increase in power and does sound a little louder and deeper than stock. Honestly if you want the aftermarket sound go aftermarket but the SS exhaust is great bang for your buck if you just want the added power.

I'm not sure if SS NA and SS/SC are the same, mine is from a S/C.

 

pipe is pipe is pipe...add the sssc exhaust, not happy with it? put a muffler on it and you have yourself the same thing as a catback

 

What about adding the exhaust manifold from a 2.0 to a 2.2? Will this hurt performance, and should I get the one off a 2.4 instead?

 

as near as I can tell,the 2.4 and SC have the same cat back.

 

And adding the exhaust manifold from either will help performance in my 2.2? And will I have to modify the current d/p to match up with it?

 

it will help performance. why not use the ss s/c downpipe as well? then you have a full SS exhaust

 

I had originally decided the next mods in order would be exhaust, header, and d/p. Still going with exhaust, but I just got a deal on an SS/SC exhaust manifold. I'm not sure if the seller has the d/p as well, but I e-mailed to ask. I want custom 2.25" exhaust with Magnaflow muffler.

 

I had the stock ss/sc exhaust on my car for about a week before I bought a catback. It really isnt worth the hassle. On an LS/LT the tip hands real low and doesnt look right, plus it wasnt as loud. If you can, DEFINENTLY get the ss exhaust manifold and down pipe. You wont be disapointed, I have both.

 

The SS's have the same exhaust manifold, downpipe and catback. They have a 2.5" OD exhaust with a 2.25" ID section over the axle. I'm going to use the SS exhaust manifold and downpipe to go with the SS catback I already have insalled (muffler swapped to Flowmaster Super 40).

if you want a nice sounding cat back with some nice gains get the megan cat back that has a group by right now... ( 330) so go look... its a nice system

 

I don't know. I heard a clip of it on Youtube and it sounded a little too high for my taste. I really like the low rumble. I think I'm going to get a custom exhaust with Magnaflow muffler and a resonator. I'm buying an SS manifold today.

 

I have a complete SS/SC exhaust on my car, even got the stainles Magnaflow muffler from the catback kit. Rumble is nice and low. Throttle response is alot better than what it was from stock also seat of the pants says it helped out. It has a lot of "base" to it, not to loud that it is annoying, but you know it is there. I got the manifold and DP for 70 bucks, the muffler for 70, and the "cat-back" for around 40 or so. All bought from forum members here on the site. By the way what kind of rims are those on your car?

The rims are 17" Motegi MR7s, I just got them about 2 weeks ago for a steal of a deal. I'm getting the manifold today from a member here for $45 shipped, and unfortunately he doesn't have a d/p. There's a meet this weekend, so I'm going to see if anyone coming has a d/p for sale. Once I sell my paintball gun, I'll be getting the full exhaust.

 

Using a dremel to port and polish the inside of the stock manifold giving it the GMPP honed manifold effect. Its pretty easy just time consuming. I had pictures on here somewhere.

 

the onlything is that if you have a 2.2 you have to check to see if you have the SAI so i mean if you have that then you cant use the ss/sc or the ss mani so just pray that you dont have it.. Heres a pictures of it..

that would probably do more bad then good unless the person knew what they were doing as far as shaping for flow direction and such.

the GMPP manifold is made via the extrude honed method with an abrasive clay compound.

 

If you look inside the stock manifold, its a real rough surface. All I did was polish it smooth, Nothing was enlarged except for the collector which was very little.

 

thats true, however the average person only knows that bigger ports = better flow and will cause all sorts of havoc in there, get what I mean?

I know exactly what you're speaking of, I've been running an LSJ manifold for a long time now with a catless downpipe I fabbed at the time.

 

What did you use to polish it smooth? I have an 06 with SAI so right now there are no aftermarket header options for me, I can't even go LSJ. So I'm considering polishing and smoothing my stock manifold. I thought about having it custom extrude honed like the GMPP manifold but that can be pricey.
