supercharging is the cheapest, safest, most consistant, easiest to install of all upgrades imo! you could do full bolt ons like header back, cai, intake manifold etc with a trifect tune and still be 60 whp less than if you just supercharged the stock 2.2 with no bolt ons. Then go out and get bolt ons... Also the 2.2 is only relieable to 250hp which is not much, nor do you want to push that amount or run it that long at that much power. I am looking into building my internals now so I can run a smaller pulley safely. If your going to make it a daily driver you should figure out how much power you want first, and then you can deciede what route you want to take either NA or BOOSTED.

I say turbo because if you have the urge for more power later on its easier to achieve with a turbo.
for starters you could use a 20g and mybe you could bumb one off of a evo guy that went big T for cheap and start from there. and what ever you decide if you go turbo, make sure you get a turbo timer.

if your going to run this turbo Becca be sure that you don't boost to much over 6psi with the stock internals you will have probs. Also I thought you said cheap/price was not an issue.

turbo timers are only needed with turbos that are only oil feed. Coolant fed turbos do not require the time to cool down after driving or doing WOT pulls....

Above all it's a daily driver so how long do you want it to last? build the internals! that's the only way your going to get reliability out of the l61

thats the one thing you want to avoid saying when comparing a SC to a TC

SC = better power band, less peak power.
TC = lag, but higher peak power (and ease of making big numbers)

Save up $3000 - $3500, and when I come home in a couple months, I'll put together and sell you a Turbo kit.

How about that?

If I had 5k I would do...
1. Supercharger(generally cheaper(unless you go TVS)/easier/more reliable than turbo)
2. Intake
3. Cat Back
4. Header
5. DP
7. Mounts
8. Axles
9. Tune
10. Cams
11. Head Gasket

That is of course assuming you don't have to pay any labor and you can get some of your parts used.
If you're buying completely new and paying for the work to be done they you will only get supercharger and tune...

...uhhhh... He's right. You should stray from saying "turbo=instant power", because that is a very false statement. ESPECIALLY if you are building a "Highway Monster".

Supercharger ftw in my book...or sequential turbos
Don't think that's been tried on a Cobalt.

turbo is a great choice along with a supercharger. just pick either or then tune it once its on, then you can add stuff like the bolt-ons and what not. i just bought a supercharger for my 2.2 but waiting for getting the tune.
