Bought my downpipe/exhaust...

It's a little cheaper I think, but hopefully it works out and sounds decent...
  • Mandrel Exhaust Systems 2.5" with Magnaflow Muffler / 18" Magnaflow Resonator
  • ZZP 3" Downpipe with Cat / 2.5" flange

$600...Isn't too bad for the setup. And I figure if it sounds ricey or too loud for my tastes, I'll just buy another resonator...

I'll post some videos when I get it installed.

Did you buy the exhaust from that company on ebay, then buy the resonator separately? That's what I did... Had my dad weld the resonator in for me. The only thing is it comes with a slip flange on the bolt in side, and the clamps to put it together are those shitty U-bolt clamps. Plus, it comes with NO rubber hangers, you have to take all yours off and reuse them, I just redid my exhaust last night, and that catback with my ZZP header/DP sounds excellent.

The catback is 2.5"... it really doesn't make a difference. I wanted a good aftermarket downpipe. Not a used one.

Well I found the catback on ebay with free shipping. So I emailed them, got free shipping through their website, and I added the resonator.

I'll be installing it at school and we got welding equipment so that won't be a problem if necessary.

Does the piping system without the muffler come with the hangers welded to it? Says it's included in the kit, but doesn't say whether it is already welded in or not...

I'm pretty sure it's all put together. They said it comes ready to bolt on and install.

The hangers are welded on. If you ordered the resonator from the company at the same time as the catback it SHOULD come welded in.

Heh, for $70 it better come welded on. I would be really hot if they charged me that much and it was in the box separate.

those crappy u bolts that hold it together actually work out pretty well. I dont have a welder so it worked out perfect for me. The only thing i found odd at first is i kept seeing a small puddle under the car where the over the axel bend and the pipe leading to the resonator is. Its just condensation coming out though. lol

I'm being impatient...but for anyone who has ordered this catback before, how long did it take between placing the order and having it shipped?

I received the downpipe today. It looks great. I'll get some pics tomorrow but I'm definitely excited. Very clean welds also, just to note. ZZP!

Catback was shipped today...scheduled delivery is next Wednesday, so I still gotta week for that.

I had a hell of a time trying to find an aftermarket 2.5" DP... that was reasonably priced at least. I figure its about a foot out of the whole exhaust that is 3" so I'm not gunna worry about it until I see how it performs.

sorry for thread jacking but I would like to know the diff in the dp's is the lsj a ture 2.5, becuase thats all I want, that way I can have a header 2.5 dp and 2.5 exahust, but I just want to make sure that the stock lsj dp is bigger than my stock l61 dp before I buy one.

The LSJ downpipe is bigger than the L61 downpipe. I'm not 100% on if it's 2.5" or not, but even if it is, it wouldn't be a TRUE 2.5" all the way through due to restriction.

LSJ downpipe is quite a bit bigger than the L61 downpipe.

So now I'm curious. I have talked to plenty of people and so far, everybody I personally know doesn't think there is any problem with a 3" downpipe.

Does anyone wanna enlighten me on the downside of it and the negative affects that I will notice?

ZZP sells one...? if not, im sure you could custom order one at no extra charge. they make their ow piping, s it wouldnt be any more difficult than making a 3" one.

As for why a 3" is too big, it will allow exhaust velocity to slow down, which will kill off some lower end power, and since its so large, you wont really see any top end gains either opposed to using a 2.5"
