Building the head
due to me screwing my engine completely.... is this everything that i'll need to get the head built aside from cams?

Get new valve seals too. Also depending on the damage you did, you may need new rockers and lifters too. What happened to your engine?
i know stems. the only concern is that it states in the kit that i need smaller stems... i guess i'll figure that out. i don't believe i blew a rocker or lifter, but would there be a way to know that?

"final carnage... 3 blown pistons, spun bearings, all of my valves need to be replaced. 3k just turned into 5k. why? because racecar" his post on fb
i'm not friends with everyone on facebook broski... the parts for the head that i put up are AFAIK, stock replacements.. can everyone validate that?

Damn dude that sucks. If the rockers and lifters are still where they should be then you shouldn't need to replace them. You will have to bleed the oil out of the lifters before reinstalling them though. Curious about how all that damage occurred.
we've discovered that.... bad fuel pump = bad detonation
Wow never would've thought losing fuel would cause so many problems. Sorry to hear man
this happened a month and a half ago lol... i just pulled the engine yesterday and took it apart within an hour this morning. nobody has answered my question yet! i'm looking for a stock replacement with all supertech... are those parts good to go for replacement or should i be looking at different part numbers?
Couldn't tell you because I can't really tell what you're getting by looking at the picture. As long as they are for a cobalt they will work in your stock head.
Yep those will work for you. I'm not sure what the deal is with the smaller seal though
Awesome thanks!
If you look at the description for the seats, it says it requires smaller seals.... Insight anyone? |
New plan...
Zzp 82# springs and retainers Supertech intake valves Supertech exhaust valves Supertech valve guides Supertech valve seat Viton valve seals Good plan? All compatible? |
Sounds like a good plan. Only thing I'd ask about is wherever you buy the seals from, I'd ask them if they work with the supertech valves
I bought the seals from dezod. And in the supertech valve guide description, it says that those are required to work with the guides. Assuming that all supertech parts are compatible
can someone please explain to me which supertech spring seats will work with zzp's 82# valve springs and retainers?
i'm trying to buy parts like...right now... anyone?
Bueller, bueller?
I think I might be one of only a few l61 with fully built, port polished head. I am running the Supertech #78 springs, Ti retainers, custom seats, Supertech coated valves, and 5 angle race port and polish from Performance Autowerks. We thought this would be plug and play for stock, but was not. The stock size valves are fine, but custom work to head and seats is required. IF need more exact information, I would contact my man Dave or Ricky at PWerks in Plainfield, IL.
So the supertech stock size valves will not fit?
Valves are fine, its the 78# supertech kit that needs custom work to head and seats. I think you should be fine with zzp, but I would ask them.
Alright phew! Do you happen to know what seats would work with zzps springs? They aren't getting back to me at all right now...
I just bought a patriot head so i didnt have to deal with all this.
