Question Car troubles... Help Please!!

I have an 06 LT and the coolant sensor has been triggering CELs. So recently I had gotten a tune up in January as the car seemed to be bogging down at idle plus it was about that time.

So earlier today I had got off work and my car wouldn't start. It was trying and trying but for some reason it just wouldn't start. It isn't the battery as that is obvious with the sounds and such. I was checking fuses and I think the computer reset as the CEL disappeared after I was done looking at the fuses. All of them are fine and then now I try it again and it starts but then bogs out. I wait a second and try it again and the same thing so I try to give it a little gas and as soon as I touch the gas it stalls. So maybe a clog I think in the gas line?

Then I tried it again without touching anything and it bogs again and I heard a few pops like something is clogged and then bam it idles perfectly and acting like nothing ever happened. So I drive it around the building a few times and it runs like nothing is wrong. So I start to go home and am getting on the highway and I give it gas to merge in and after the car hit 3500 RPM it acted like it was still taking off and sounded like everything was running fine. Except now the acceleration slowed down instead and I'm still gaining speed but reduced and almost got hit. As soon as I got into the next gear the RPM went down and ran fine. So everytime I get higher than 3500 RPM it does this.

Any ideas what this could be? Before I take it somewhere I would like some ideas as I don't want to get screwed as money isn't raining from the sky for me. Thanks for anyone to give ideas.

UPDATE: So I've been told there is a fuel leak causing a lean O2 sensor CEL and another CEL for a broken sensor (because I got 2 P0135 CELs logged in the system).

UPDATE #2: So as it turns out the fuel pump is leaking pretty bad so I had it replaced. Explains also why a decrease in MPG recently as well. Thought my driving was just getting worse. lol. So with the new sensor and fuel pump everything is back to running smoothly and better than ever.

Thanks again for all the help everyone.

did you change your fuel filter? you may need to just have a diagnostic run on it.

I'm not sure if I had that done last time or not. I'm definitely taking it someplace tomorrow for them to work on Saturday morning. Thanks for the thought and I will look into that.

I checked my records and yes the spark plugs and fuel filter was changing in Feb this year. So could it be bad gas?

Thanks for the help. So being not a good car guy what is the best way about going around and finding out if that is indeed the problem?

The only CEL is for low coolant? Have you had it scanned for any other trouble codes?

Yeah last night did a new scan. P0135 for the oxygen sensor. Wouldn't have anything to do with it would it?

Yes. Yes it would. If the fuse for emissions isn't blown then you probably need a new HO2S

Clogged cat? I say it's cratered, lol...

I'm going to just guess at this one. Let me know if I'm right.

O2 code.. major bogging on partial or light throttle. I bet the cat has come apart inside, is more or less blocking your entire exhaust system, and the O2 code has been set by a reading that is way off of it's charts. As in, slow to respond, etc.

If you wanna do some self checking... you can try this, but it's a long shot. Crawl under your car, find your cat (I'm going to tell you to do this when it's cold, as you should already probably know, but let's just be on the safe side) and bang it with your hand. Try to listen for any rattling from inside.

One way to know for sure... remove your pre-cat O2 sensor (upstream) and fire up the car. It'll be loud like all hell, but give it a couple revs and see what happens. If it doesn't bog and stall, voila, you've found your problem.

can you find someone to swap ICMs with?

i'm not sure that the ignition control module is your problem but mine failed on my 06 LT last year and i similar problems to what you've discribed but to be completely honest my problems were not as severe. i always try to swap out potintenally bad parts for known working parts before i settle on buying anything.

had my TCM fail 3 weeks ago and the reason i knew it was the TCM is cause my buddy with an auto let me run his TCM in my car around the neighborhood to see if mine had really failed.

Yeah but I don't know of anyone in the area here and with the job that I just started missing work is not an option. So getting it fixed this weekend is a must hence why I dropped it off last night to get check. Will update though once I find out more.

On a side note some good news. I was able to find that from my slight over paying on payments for the car I will be done next month and the car will officially be all mine. Woohoo no more payments and more to spend on fixing it and making it all around better.

Update: So I've been told there is a fuel leak causing a lean O2 sensor CEL and another CEL for a broken sensor (because I got 2 P0135 CELs logged in the system).
