The only problem depending on the laws in your area will be inspection you might not pass with out a cat

You will throw a code. The rear o2 sensor will recognize the change. You wont see a cel light right away. It will take probably like 3 start ups.

Also if you want to be cheap you could just get a pry bar and knock the cat out. It will take you like 5 minutes after you get the downpipe off the car.

How much of a difference is there between a gutted and non-gutted cat?

I highly doubt your going to see that much difference just without a cat on the car without tuning it also, the majority of the power coming from going catless is the ability to up the timing thus more power, atleast thats the case on the 2.0L

^^ minimal at best. on a 2.2 it's not worth the shitty way it will sound. get maybe 1 or 2 hp from it. just get a high flow.

He's right. It makes your exhaust twice as loud and adds a lot of shitty sounds to it you don't hear with a cat

The reason the Camaros and Trans Ams can get away with it is because they have enough air moving out of the exhuast that it doesn't sound raspy. They have the power!

On a car like ours... a gutted cat WILL throw an emissions code for the rear 02 sensor. and it WILL sound like complete crap. If you want to gut it, just buy a High Flow cat... they are like $70-80
