Considering I recently spent almost $2000 on a GT Ballistic Ballbearing Turbo for my Talon $2700 for a complete setup is a bargain.

And now I'm selling the bloody car. I want my $2k back

ok...quick and stupid question probably but i'm new to all this stuff....if you were to get any of those turbo stages installed...does that lower your gas mileage per gallon then?

Yup. I have to assume you don't know how it works, so here's how it works...

Engines require a precise mixture of Fuel to Air to work properly. The best ratio, called Stochiometric (did I spell that right?) is about 16 parts air to 1 part gas. It's the ECMs job in the modern car to maintain this ratio. When you force more air into the engine via turbo charging, the car must in turn add more gas to the mix to keep it all running correctly.

Thanks
Those prices are very nice for a full kit.

Are you using the same turbo for each kit? If so then someone could start off with Stage I, then later on upgrade to Stage II or III?

If someone were to build the bottom end, add a boost controller and appropriate fuel mods, what's the hp limits of the turbo?

Not necessarily. Most of the time you'll be driving "off boost" so it'll be like stock. However, if you drive with your foot in it all of the time, you'll definitely see a decrease in gas mileage.

It also depends on when the turbo comes on. The stock SRT-4 turbo is so small that if boost control is taken away from the stock computer, we get part-throttle-boost, as much as 15psi at 50% throttle, as a result gas mileage goes down. Aftermarket turbo upgrades are alot bigger and as a result come on later in the RPM and the part throttle boost is virtually eliminated.

With my current modifications (stock turbo), around town I get about 20-22mpg and about 25-26 on the highway. My friend has an aftermarket turbo, produces nearly 2x the horsepower and gets better gas mileage around town (23-24) and on the highway (27-28).

Pretty much correct, except Stoich is 14.7

Here is a good chart to reference:

Note, however, that with Forced Induction applications (Supercharger, Turbo, Nitrous) usually you want your Air-Fuel ratio a bit rich, around 11.5:1.

Yep, each kit uses the same turbo, so it's possible to get the Stage 1 and upgrade the other components later. However, we suggest that you don't raise the boost much past 10 unless you plan on upgrading your internals.

Sure, we can do that for you If you're serious about doing it, I can sell you the Stage 1 Kit with the FMU, High Flow Fuel Pump, and fuel lines for $2250 plus Shipping, so about $2300 Shipped.
Well unfoutunately it's probably going to be a year or so before I go forced induction. Eventhough I'd love to have a boosted car, I want to make it look fast before I make it fast... But when I'm ready to go the forced induction route, I will defnitely look your way...Thanks for your support of the Cobalt, the market for it is only going to grow.

True, because then people see your car and say "wow, it's fast"...and then it's not.

I bought this thing to replace my 16G. I'm also running DSMLink, Walbro HP Pump, etc. Now I just want to sell the car becasue I'm tired of messing aroung with this stuff.

If I were to continue with my plans I'd be hitting 11's but I've kinda lost interest.

Try owning an ION, and see what it feels like. At least companies produce parts for your car right away. Any parts produced for Saturns are marked up so high at the beginning, that no one wants to buy them and new car buyers don't end up buying a Saturn because they can't afford to mod one. Then the parts get discontinued after 2 years or so, and the cycle starts all over again.
