coil pack -> COP conversion..

Can I easily convert from the powered coil pack that is on the L61 to the individual copi on plug bits that are fitted to the LSJ in order to use the LSJ cover that fits the centre of the valve cover...

I'm looking at the MSD stuff to see if its an off the shelf mod or what.

I'd imagine it's something close to off the shelf stuff. I'll trace my COP wires tonight and see if they just tie directly into the harness or not, if they do, its just about getting the parts and splitting the power wire/ground wires 4 ways. Are you thinking stock COP from GM or upgraded COP? I want to upgrade my stock COP without having to cannibalize my COP GM wire connections. Also what about the SS/SC cover in the center of the motor, I love that look, but with COP we can't get that can we?

EDIT:
heres a pic of my stock COP for my 07 Cobalt LS 2.2 - they're too tall for the LSJ cover

Thing is the stock coil setup has a built in amplifier. Ie it takes a 5V pulse for each spark event and then does the 12V->30Kv step from there as the coil pack is powered too.

ive a feeling that going COP with the stock ecu might be impossible. But in the Gm sport build book they show a step to COP but no description as to what happens to do that.

Holy crap! A legitimate performance question in the 2.2L sections. I knew there had to be something else going on in here than "wut airfilter and muffler should i get??" and of course "can i just take off my exhaust would it be loud?"

Bump for a good thread. I want to know the answer to this also, and hopefully someone out there has it.

I have a question.

What are you trying to accomplish?

erm its more a "want to make the bay pretty" mod by getting rid of the fugly (f**k ugly) coil pack assembly that is on the L61 and fit the LSJ cover with COP.

I doubt there will be any gain on a stock engine, but it could form a foundation for strong ignition when nitrousing or turbocharging at a later date
