i dunno, this intake thing has been done to death. here's the simple truth. with any modification, there is either risk or cost. there is a reason that the cars didn't come with some huge pipe for an intake. some of that is noise, some of it is ease of service, some of it is protection from the elements.

most cars come with some sort of cold air intake system, why wouldn't they? automakers figured this one out in the 60s... what do you think ram air is all about? (yes, i know they say the moving car forces more air into the engine, but be real, most of the power it made is the cooler intake charge)

if you're THAT worried about it, wait untill the GMPP intake is easy to get, i assume that it will offer some performance with little to no side effect.

Thats right, you can get 10 HP from a CAI on a SS/SC, but really can't get more than 5 or 6 with the 2.2L which this section is for.

K&N shows 6
Injen about the same
AEM a little less
GM ? guess we'll find out after its released
Once we get supers things will be different

Alright sorry to bring up an old thread but I was just looking for info when I came across this one. I don't know if the original question was truely answered and if so I don't think it was a good enough answer. I live in new england and am faced with constant flooding. I am forced to drive through one some times almost two foot puddles. I think it would be alot easier to install a custom bypass valve than to constantly change over from cold air to the short ram.

Just thought I'd throw in that bit of advise as I didn't see it on this thread already.
