Confused about Air intake
Confused about Air intake
theres one thing i dont understand, if u go to cobalt-addiction.com and go to intakes the AEM intake is $250 and adds 7 hp and 17ft-lbs of torque and the Injen air intake adds 17 hp and 16 torque for the same price and is a bolt-on. do u think its a typo error or is it correct. thanx and also i was jus wondering which would be better?
Both will add about the same. Those are just dyno's used for advertsing and pushing the product. There shouldnt be that much of a difference in power gains between those two intakes, or any intakes for that matter.
In ur mine which one should i go wit Fujita, AEM, or Injen?
Well, for my 2.2 I went with Injen, for the simple fact that it can be made into either a SRI or a full CAI. I don't know what engine you have, but if you have the 2.2 I would go with Injen. But if you have the 2.0 I wouldnt know which is best.
I don't know if K&N has one for the 2.2's but that is what I am running on my 2.0 and have had zero problems! I had an Injen on my 05 2.2 and it was great, being able to switch from SRI to CAI made it nice!

K&N does it make for the 2.2's, but check if the engine is has SAI. If so, then you're only intake option is the K&N and they only make a short ram for the SAI.
well a while back i put up a thread with a poll asking what brand everyone recommends. everyone recommended the injen intake cuz it was interchangeable between sri and cai, but everyone like the aem cuz of the filter quality and what not. but what i want to do is get the injen intake with an aem dryflow filter. oh and btw i do have a 2.2 if u were wondering.

No, not all, which is weird. I think they only made them in certain locations because of certain state's emissions rules.
Im sorry for soundin like a retard but wats SRI and CAI and why is it good to switch between the two, and how do u switch between them?

SRI= Short Ram Intake
CAI= Cold Air Intake
Why people switch?? I really don't know, with a non-forced induction engine you can run a bypass valve on the intake if your worried about sucking up water into the engine. I would imagine people switch to a SRI in the wintertime to avoid all the road grime.

By looking at the intake I would say that you can either make it short ram by not installing the extra tube that makes it a CAI and vice versa. I could be wrong, kinda neat, like if you decide to take a long trip and do not want to risk going CAI, you just take off the tube and more it SR.
first of all which injen air intake are you talking about??? if you are talking about the 7026 its for the 2.0L so sorry.. thats made for forced induction systems like a S/C or turbo.. you get it.??? thats why the gains are so large.. the only injen intake for the 2.2L is the 7024.. if you have an engine with the SAI just put a breather filter over where the SAI hole is so no worries.. i cant promise it wont throw a CEL but i dont hink you really can do anything about it...
