no, the control arm bushing has a lot of movement and destroys the poly in no time. replace with stock bushings.

Just roll with the AC Delco ones (stock). They're like maybe $20ea.

All you need is a lift or jack stands, a good impact, maybe a pry bar, a vice, and an air chisel (or maybe a hammer and chisel, but be careful).

Everyone that says you need a press is just asking for it to take longer. My buddy who is a certified gm tech uses a vice to do it. He can do 2 bushings on one car in 20min. Like including lifting and lowering the car. Its SOOO easy.

This must be a Cobalt issue. I've had Prothane control arm bushing in my Cavalier for going on 4 years now with no issues. This car has been tracked too drag strip, autox, and HPDE.

Blazin knows what's up, prothene mounts are asking for massive failure on Cobalts. If you have a base or 2.4, replace with stock. If you have an SC or TC, go with the spherical units.

Yea its like I thought the delta control arm moves substantially more than the J-body does.

Pretty sure most replacement bushings are for the fe5 arms. I would just stick stock or get the fe5 arms.

Over harder bumps you'll hear a slower kind of rattling. Like take the rattle a toasted endlink makes, and slow it down and make it a bit lower and thats the control arm bushing on its way out. Over curbs, sewers, and potholes and such you'll notice it.

Or if you have a hoist, throw it up in the air and grab a pry bar and put it in where the end of the arm goes (under the arm in the slot) and pry up. If the arm hits the frame she's done.

I don't know if I notice a clunk during braking or acceleration but It's most pronounced going over any bumps. Still lower control arm bushings?

I replaced mine last year with fe5 units (i think they're all the same anyway...) and you NEED a press to put the new ones in. I used moog units, their superior in design compared to the acdelco ones.
