No lag and turbo don't work bud, minimal lag, possibly, no lag, sorry lol
On a sidenote, I was also looking at the 30 series to pair with my engine when I was thinking about going turbo, decided the remainder of this engine is going S/C though haha.

You've obviously never heard the saying.........and if you plan on being into modding cars long I suggest you memorize it:

----------------
A) Cheap
B) Reliable
C) Fast

Choose 2
----------------

Happy Modding.

The best way would be to go turbo, but it is also the most expencive way. Getting a used S/C kit off one of the SS guys would be a reall easy and cheep way to go supercharged. You will not keep up with the SS though eather way. You might be able to hang with a bone stock SS but thats about it. The only way to really hang with the SS guys is a full motor build.

Turbo isn't expensive....I could piece together a kit for 1-2k max but I wouldn't have the supporting things like a clutch exhaust after the header/dp etc etc. It's the supports that kill you in the price dept.

i wish u lived closer, i would show you first hand the no lag. do some research, theres many ways of having no lag with a bigger than stock turbo. it's sad to see how much people talk **** with the lack of knowledge they have. you have NO options for ur car... look at the aftermarket for the 4G63...

3.5 in intercooler with modified IC piping, 02 Dump pipe straight off a ported hot side FP red. full 3" TBE, buschur racing ported exhaust manifold... shall i keep going? i would bet u dont know half of what anything of my car is and ur tryin to tell me what i know? i've spent more money on my car in aftermarket parts than u could have bought ur car for brand new. i'm pretty sure i run what i say noob.

you're very special.. You do realize that the LNF makes peak torque with a turbocharger almost 2,000rpms SOONER than a LSJ with a supercharger?
yes, its not the biggest turbo in the world, but lets get a bigger turbo, and move that number to say, 1,000rpms sooner instead of 2,000rpms sooner...
As stated, there are MANY ways to build a turbo car to reduce lag.

Hmm, no options for my car? I make my own options thanks.
And looks like you're blowing smoke off about an evo seeing as how you mention buschur, don't see any evo's in your gallery, just one in your sig, hmm.
And you think bragging about paying more in aftermarket parts for your car than I spent on mine stock is a good thing? . You crack me up.
With 5k MAX put into my car I'd walk or hang close to most evos thanks, so that'd be a total of less than 17k including my car cost, funny isn't it, looks like you wasted a good bit.

That said, STI > EVO anyways . Have a nice time I'm not gonna argue with a fanboy.

Key words there, you will never eliminate it with a turbo unless you're running a puny pos.

^^^ this guy is a TOOL.
Gt2860rs A.K.A. Disco potatoe A.K.A. The turbo that made superchargers obsolete. This turbo has enough flow to push about 375hp on a 2.0. They aren't cheap though.

Yes but you fail to see that it's limited to 375hp. If/when I decide to go turbo on this I'll be looking for something 4-500, I'll be fine with brake boosting, but not gonna sit there and say I have no lag, that's just retarded.
I will probably want to see how far the car can go with a TVS however, all the 1/4 times out on that now are pretty lame considering the power output of it. I think that matched with ported head and other supports will be pretty damn impressive and competable with major turbo'd cars also.
Just my .2, there's no right or wrong, it's preference and goals is all.

The dico potato spools at a little under 2k rpm, and full boost very soon after. Most of the time you're already at 2k just driving around. Anything under 2k is pretty much instant boost, and I doubt anyone on here is going to want much more than 375 hp anyways. Even so, that's a LOT of power.

I vote Turbo, free power compared to a supercharger which in essence is a parsite on the engine. A turbo uses the engines byproduct to make power. It also all the depends on the application. Superchargers are great as well. I just say that with the right tune and turbo you could gain what your looking for.

But to answer his actual question, supercharger will grant you all the power your 2.2 can handle and at a fraction of the cost.

I doubt very seriously that he's willing to spend another 5k building his motor, SC all the way.

only needs $1.5k in parts plus $700 in labor for an engine build...if you're going for bare minimums anyway... but those bare minimums will make an engine ready for 500whp

That includes a forged crank? Crank goes at around 500.

My buddy with a 2.2 SC'd cobalt (07cobaltguy)
beat a Ion Redline, with a intake and axle back
i think he said he won by like a few bumpers..it wasnt much but the 2.2 was pulling slightly away at the top end

this topic will probably get locked soon im guessing...

As i said it will hang with a stock cobalt. A intake and a catback does not really do anything. They are supporting mods for bigger things. In my eyes thats a stock cobalt. Tell your friend to come race me while i still have my gay ass blower on the car and it wouldnt even be a race.

i will agree with u though if the guy wants a simple mod. Finding a supercharger set up would be the best way to go. The M62 is more then enough to max out a stock 2.2.

supercharger= cheaper+easier
turbocharger=better performance+(sounds badass and boost can be regulated as to not blow up engine)

turbo is not better than supercharged? wrong. why is it then that a stock SS/TC will walk a stock SS/SC?
