Do I really have to do this?

I don't want to but I think I will from what I've seen online.

I had to get new remotes for my keyless entry and need to program them. I really have to go to the dealer for this?

When i got my car, it didn't come with a remote, but my dad had a spare one for his solstice, same year 05, so i snagged it from him. I thought it was going to have to take it to the dealer and get it reprogramed, but I took it out in the driveway and clicked the lock button and heard 2 honks... was puzzled for a little, so I did it again. *honk* *honk*.

Somehow the remote worked for my cobalt, and his solstice.
