Dynoed my car today.....

I know that my car is stock, and a lot of ppl dont see a purpose for dynoing a car with no mods done to it, but it was free, and i wanted to see where im starting. I must say that i was impressed. I was expecting to put down around 118-120ish, and i actually showed 135.07 hp and 136.34 ft/lbs tq in third gear. in fourth gear we hit the speed gov, lol, and put down 133.53 hp, and 139.52 tq

heres a vid i put together...

Good stuff bro. It's far from worthless to dyno with no mods. You are actually doing it right unlike me. I never did a base run so I don't know exactly what my mods are worth. I can only get a ballpark idea unlike you. Now you can dyno after some mods and know what the real deal is.

^^^^^What he said: establishing a baseline is far from pointless, especially when it is free!

Those numbers aren't bad at all! I was expecting like 115-120 whp! That thing is a torque monster (on a smaller scale) WOW more torque than power! Thats nuts!

thanks for the comments guys. the guy told me that by looking at my afr, an intake would do a lot of good ( for an intake that is). My car ran quite rich through 3rd, and the addition of an intake should lean it out a bit. i will plan on going back next year abou this time as well with intake header and exhaust. then the next year, who knows, maybe ill be dynoing my custom turbo kit lol.

hey man i havea real important question, please tell me you can remember. WHERE did they plug the cords onto the car for the TACH/TEST wire??? my local dyno shop can't dyno my cobalt because they cant figure out where to hook up the car at.

it was a dyno jet.... and its not really underrated. if you figure 10% loss, thats 135+13=148. its pretty close

SAE horsepower ratings changed in 2006 forcing all manufacturers to reduce horsepower ratings. most vehicles will put out approximately 10-15% more power than OEM quotes because the guy running the dyno does not have to comply with the new regs and is still using the old system. Based on the old rating system the L61 has somewhere between 160-165 hp, with about a 20% lost thru friction in the drivetrain, which amounts to around 130-135 hp at the wheels, or exactly what people are running on most dyno's....this is why there are so many SS/SC's that are pulling stock dyno numbers that are nearly equal to or equal to OE flywheel hp numbers. Hope this makes sense.
