ECU Thought

Hello. I drive a '07 Balt [automatic]. I love my Balt. I'd like more power. I have a Injen intake and a Magnaflow exhaust ant it isn't as quick as I'd like it. I could buy a header but don't know if it's worth it. I have a question for you guys. Is it possible to swap the SS/SC ECU into our cars? If we did, wouldn't that allow us to make more power? I've tried searching the forums for the answer but found nothing.

Thanks.

No. However, you are in luck. With an 07, you have the E37 ECM, which is supported by HP Tuners. So you can tune your stock computer. Two things, the HPT support is not actually released yet, but it will be very soon. Second, you aren't going to get much power out of your car with just a tune. If you are staying N/A, then get some cams, then tune it. Then you will some more power.

to further what he is saying. you cant simpily swap ecu's the ss/sc ecu is tuned for the supercharger. if you dont have it you could mess some stuff up on top of that i dont think the ecu fits into your wireing.

The SS/SC PCM, as everyone else said, won't work, mainly because of differences in communication protocols.

I definetly agree with replacing cams as the best way to increase power, not to mention sound. However, cam sensors on 2007 L61s have changed yet again, and I know of no one to offer a cam upgrade yet. Previous L61s lack a sensor on the exhaust cam, giving staggered lengths and LSJs use a hall effect sensor rather than a digital sensor, so I don't think either will work.

You could try the b&m trick shift that they just started trying out. It should give your car a lil more snap to it.

"They" may not. You could however get the GMPP adjustable cam gears. They will work. And you could get your stock cams reground, which is also a common practice.

It's a device that increases the line pressure on your transmission.
