Exaust Question: GMPP Peformance vs Borla
Exaust Question: GMPP Peformance vs Borla
alright so im looking to get an exhaust........obviously im between the GMPP and Borla exhaust
from what i understand Borla in fact has done some part of manufacturing and/or design of the GMPP muffler but correct me if im wrong
so basically i want to know what u guys would go with so throw ur opinions out there and also which exhaust would be best if i decided to go FI in the future
thanks in advanced
i know u guys have opinions on this lmao

all exhaust perform about the same. you know that you will have to get at least 3" piping if you go turbo right. depending on when you ACTUALLY do that i would go with the tsudo as a supplement until them. sounds great and performs just like any other exhaust. but thats just my 2cents. now with the choices you have given, i would go with the gmpp performance. everyone seems to love theres and the only problem i have read about is the resonator scraping if you lower it because of its size. any questions just ask here or shoot me a pm.
borla is the way to go. million mile warranty and the only exhaust company to make a muffler flow better than a straight pipe(xr1). doesnt sound canny has deeper tone perfect for me if you want you can hear my borla with clear image header. ive been told by 7 people now that it is the only four cylinder exhaust that they like. dude borla all the way. ive never heard another cobalt that sounds as good(opinion)
it all depends on what you want to do.
If you're staying NA, then the GMPP is the way to go (its 2.25" piping with a borla muffler/resonator),
if you want to go supercharged, the borla exhaust is fine (same as GMPP, with 2.5" piping).
If you want to go turbo, you need a 3" exhaust.

Ive heard that too, and heard that Corsa did it(Corsa did do other GMs) But as far as I know, and heard from other people i trust, Gibson did it. Doesnt matter who did it anyway, because its almost impossible to get one right now anyway because of the bankruptcy
gm subcontracted borla and corsa for their exhaust just like on the corvette. you can tell the difference by the quality of the welds and by birla the true t304 ss with borla and the semi t304 ss/ galvanized from corsa. in oppinion corsa is not the on top of the food chain my opinion
borla is not very loud until about 3 months then it increases. but when you put your header on it sounds perfect in opinion.
(gmpp)i know who has some in stock

AFAIK Corsa DID NOT do the Cobalt exhaust, they did do the Vette exhausts, but their stuff was too expesnive for the Cobalt, and thats why a different supplier was used.
Ive never even heard of "semi T304 stainless/galvanized steel" before. I dont think I am the only one either.

also for everyone else that is confused. the gmpp exhaust is a borla exhuast system with gm peformance parts stamped on the muffler and res.
Correct, Both GMPP and Borla are 2.25" I am still inclined to believe the GMPP is Gibson and not Borla, but I would believe it to be Borla before Corsa.
wow thanks for the responses.....im most likly not gonna go turbo.......if i wanted to drop the 3K+ to do it i would just use that as a down payment on a SS/TC
im probably gonna just stay N/A but i dk what the future will bring....either way i cant decide between the borla and GMPP......and I dont want to go Corsa since i dont like the quality of the welds....many people I know are having problems with them
ya man i hear ya on that one
another thing....this summer i would like to also do a 2.4 manifold swap
next summer after i hit the dreaded 36K miles i plan on doing a header, downpipe, 2.4 TB, as well as a tune all at once.......what exhaust would be best suited for these supporting mods?

Id say go borla, my buddy has it on his jetta and it sounds AMAZING. best sounding exhaust ive heard on a 4cyl car. Alot of people around here agree. IF you were to go turbo do it to your current car instead of buying a SS/TC. Figure youve paid on your car now for how long, its alot cheaper, and then for 3 grand its turboed and you still owe less than a ss/tc. just my .02 cents tho

Ive got the GMPP Touring showing anyday(today hopefully), Ive got the 2.4 intake already, and Ive got an LSJ DP and a GMRacing shorty header ready and waiting to go in(and tuning it most likely, havent decided), I dont see a problem with the GMPP at all. I couldnt see spending over $200 more for the Borla when they are so similar.

so maven ur basically saying that the 200 bucks extra is for the name?
I ran the GMPP for three years and heard a Borla system on a local car, it sounds exactly the same. Best tone I feel for an LSJ car, not the biggest exhaust but it flows well for what it is.
