exhaust

Well i bought my car as an auto after having 2 turbo dsms that were 5 speed...so i kinda missed the 5 speed part. Also had a non turboed eclipse and the 2.2 is actually faster. But my question is would it be gay/sound bad if i put an exhaust on my auto 2.2?? If any i would get one that is quite until you hit higher rpms...jsut wanted to see if having an exhaust and intake would free up some power.

Not at all. Putting a nice looking and sounding exhaust system that will free up a few hp is a good idea for just about any car. Go for it man.

The GM touring exhaust is pretty nice. Its noticable, but not obnoxious.

I agree!

I think thats the exhaust that would fit you the best.
You could also look into getting an ss/sc or ss/tc cat-back.

An ss/sc exhaust is probably the best bang for your buck out there. If money is an issue, that is undoubtably a great option.

Im looking for a quiet exhaust...one that isnt loud unless i get on it you know? Also not too flashy jsut want it to look nice from the rear maybe a nice tip. i dont want something obnoxious and ricey. Just something that sounds good/quieter at idle and low rpm..and one that will actualyl help with power

the t/c exhaust will fit no other car, from what i've heard. it has a different flange.

you could always pick up a used Corsa from a SS/SC like i did. i love the thing.

Most of he Corsa exhaust set ups I have seen are fairly loud...if you want to follow the saying..."loud when you want it to be and quite when it needs to be" - some options would def. be:

1. Tsudo N1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCWGHq0h0jE
- http://www.speed-element.com/servlet/Detail?no=156

2. GM Performance Touring - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGJeeebRqQc
- http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...P1382C144.aspx

3. Magnaflow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgXru...eature=related
- http://shopping.msn.com/results/shp/...cobalt,scId=13

Lots of options for exhaust systems....personal preference really...but these are some of the more quite ones...hope this helps

How would that be "ricer"? Ricer would be putting a giant wing, chrome 16" wheels, flames and bullet hole stickers all over your car.

Nothing "ricer" about a nice aftermarket exhaust system.

An SS/SC exhaust is 2.25", more than large enough, as large as most aftermarket exhaust systems, and I'm getting rid of mine once I upgrade to a 3". Probably want 75+ shipping. With a zzp downpipe it sounds amazing, but it's very quiet unless you're really getting on it.

i felt a little difference with the exhaust. and Corsa is FAR from quiet. lol. i like it though, it has that nice hum when you're driving along and it screams when you open it up. i really like the corsa disclaimer:

"CORSA exhaust systems are not warranted to meet any specific local, state or federal noise ordinances. Please check applicable laws before installing."

LOL

if u wanted to hear the ss/sc exhaust on a 2.2l here it is i made a clip on youtube when i had it done last summer got the exhaust local for 100 and had it welded up for 50 so thats def the best bang for the buck n it is still nice and quiet compared to tsudo or magnaflow.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LUJDk-sA00

the only other thing i did in this vid was the intake mod at the time where you take the big plastic thing out of the front bumper / fender area.

Probably next friday I'll be buying a 3", and I'm guessing a week to ship it and get it installed.

Soooo, maybe 2 weeks and it will be available? Get a nice stainless downpipe and it will sound great.

I have no idea how to ship it though, or how much it will be.

Hmmm. Well as far as I know, theres no canister style (or as you call them....JDM angle) exhausts available for an SS/TC that I know of yet. I could try and get in contact with ARK and see if they have anything in the works for an SS/TC.

My recommendation for now would be get an aftermarket downpipe and just hold off on the cat-back. B/c with summer just around the corner i'm sure many companies are finishing up their R&D on all kinds of new products for the SS/TC's and will be unveiling them soon. A new downpipe will open your exhaust up a good bit, and make it a bit louder for now.
