Exhaust Install?
 

As you may or may not know...I have a stainless steel borla cat-back waiting to be installed. Is there anyway I can install this with just a jack....Can the stock exhaust be taken off with out being damaged, and what tools will be required?

so you mean to say that you ditched the exhaust you got from mandrel bent systems to get a full borla catback? or are you trying to claim that the mandrel bent exhaust system you have with a BORLA muffler is an actual Borla cat back?

He probably means the Mandrel Bent system with Borla muffler, just said it differently.

With just a jack.... up yea... but i wouldnt recomend it lol
get some jackstands and you will be all set.
when i did mine i had to cut my old one so i could get it out but if you had a hoist then you wouldnt need to cut it.
my new 3" one that my buddy made me is all one peice and he did it using a jack and jackstands.

sorry guys yes it is the mandrel bent with borla muffler just trying to conserve using that whole phrase just to represent the exhaust lmao, but my girl has like 5 jackstands and I have a really good jack so I was hoping maybe just cut the stock exhaust in half and put the new one on piece at a time. will it work? btw trying this tomo so if you have any advice I would most highly appreciate any input

go buy a $5 hacksaw from autozone and cut right before the rear torsion beam, and than u can do it all in your garage with hand tools, a jackm, jack stands, and some elbox grease, i do all exhaust install in my garage :p everything from the header to the tip...

lol sorry jn but I dont have the knowledge you do what beam are you talking about, like where is it located? everything else I have hacksaw,saw-zaw elbow grease :o) just dont know where that beam is?

do NOT just use the jack, unless you want to die. :lol:

the torsion beam is what most people incorrectly call the rear axle. You'll see the big metal thing with roudn holes that the exhaust goes over before the muffler. There's nothing tricky about installing and exhaust. make the cut, take off the muffler, unbolt the 2 bolts, and the rest comes off. put the new one on, tighten it up, done.

lol well I dont want do die, but thanks for putting the beam in my terms lol :o) alright well lets hope all goes well tommorow and ill post up pics hopefully...

what's that at the end past the flange?

if you mean the baggy thing it has i think a gasket that matches up with the start of the exhaust clamps for where the ieces meet? and screws

that looks good, the baggie probably has the clamps u need to tighten the piping together where they go into the next pipe...looks good man, now go put it on, i have experience with their exhaust, and it fit pretty damn good

ps ill be buying that same exhaust soon hahahha, i need one, but im getting the regualr steel one, and im just painting it to prevent rust

okay one more thing the gasket that came with its gonna go at the end correct and connects to the downpipe? seconndly looks like two clamps sos do you think their gonna connect where the pieces meet (3 pieces go together leaving two movable slots) the clmaps will fix that

Kevin meant why does it look like the actual tubing extends past where the flange is.

yeah, the gasket goes between the DP and the rotable flange, the clamps hold it down the pipes at the 2 joining section(before torsion beam, and before muffler)

exactly... it looks like that piece would stick into the downpipe... which is not only ass backwards, but it looks like it will add some restriction which defeats the point.

well i also didnt push as hard as i could to put the piping in eachother i just wanted to set it up to see if the hangers are right

okay. take a look at the DP end of your exhaust. see how the pipe extands past the flange?!

thats what we're talking about. the flange should be flush.

that wont be a issue with the exhaust dont worry about it, they cant see that the pipe on the ur exhaust is flared out to prevent any leaks, flared out, exhaust will work fine, and will bolt up to w/e dp u have now

the flange on that exhaust that connects to the DP has the ability to move/ spin, which is why it is not at the end of the piping in said picture.

I have this exhasut too, except with the magnaflow muffler, sounds great.
