This is prolly a stupid quetsion sorry but,
headers and exhaust manifold???? are they the same thing?
Also, what consists of a full exhaust system?
Would that be, cat back, downpipe, and headers?????
Thanks

okay. manifold is stock. when u buy header(s) u are increasing the air flow. A full exhaust is header(s) back. That consists of header(s), cat(optional) normally u got with a highflow or punched/gutted cat(illegal if u punch or gut it but nobody except u knows), downpipe, and cat-back(if u have a cat). Also, when choosing an exhaust check a couple things out first. Do u have SAI (secondary air injection). Just use the search tool and read up on it. Basically what it is is an extra pipe in your stock airbox (intake) that takes air during a cold start and circulates it through a sensor and then sends it to ur exhaust manifold. If u do have SAI you won't be able to get a header until u find a way to delete it. When u search it, u will find out how to delete it. If u don't have it, then congrats! Ur able to go with a full exhaust. The first mod people usually do performance wise is intake, header, exhaust. There are alot of brands which offer good products. Keep in mind though when choosing an exhaust don't go too big. Make sure u stay within the limits of your car. Pacesetter makes a good product at an inexpensive price. They make a header as well as an exhaust. For an intake, u can go to pep boys, buy a couple pipes and a filter (preferably AEM dryflow) and u have a custom name brand intake for half the price. Um, if u go to pep boys, just buy, a 90*tube, and they should have a package with a couple other ones together with a vacuum hose tube for like 40 bucks. The AEM filter is roughly 40-45 bucks. I recommend this filter because we have a Mass Airflow Sensor. Other filters are oiled and clog up the sensor and make the throttle body messy and dirty. Also! If u are going to make your own intake, make sure u have a dremel or know someone that does. Because u have a drill out ur own spot for the sensor. It's not hard. Take a sharpie and a tape measure, and measure the sensor. I think its like 3" x .5" . I could be wrong though I did it a while ago. Or u cud just take the sensor and outline the bottom onto the pipe then dremel it out and put to little holes for where u screw it in. I hope this helped u!

The short answer.
A header individual pipes from the exhaust port to the collector (goes to 1 pipe) light in weight. They usually help pull exhaust gas from the cylinders more efficently.
Mainfold is usually a cast piece that is more restrictive and channels don't always go to the collector before combining. Usually cast iron, and is heavy. Cheeper to make, especially when GM makes thousands.
If you are stock, its the rusty hunk of metal coming off the engine.

So if I read that correctly, a header would replace the manifold?
So a full exhaust would be header, down pipe, and catback.
Correct?

If you buy an all stainless steel exhaust expect to spend 1500-1600. My friend has Vibrant long tube header with ARK catback. The gains you get are alright but you won't take full advantage until you get tuned, that is if there is any for 2.2.
