Is this is the exact engine GM uses in the j-bodys, n-bodys ect.? Or are they changing it a bit?

Got to drive a 5 speed Alero with an Eco-tec. Pulled very well for only 140hp. Yanked her into 2nd gear and the tires broke loose, getting a real good sqawk in the process.

Not sold on the getrag 5 speed and that clutch in the Alero....I stalled it once! ops: I thought it didn't give much feedback as where the engagement point was.

Should do very well as a base engine in the (lighter) Cobalt

The good old 03 jerky clutch. My sister also has an 03 and the clutch is just flat out weird. I can't get used to it either. But the 04 and 05 J-cars are smooth, so I'd imagine they have that fixed for the Cobalt as well. And hopefully smoother shifts as well.

I have an 04 ION, and the clutch is nice and smooth for me. Not sure if this was a J specific problem, or if the 03 IONs had the same issue
