Post Got Twmperformance Shifter

finally today i got my short shifter from twmperfomance and i thought it was going to be an easy install so i followd the instructions it came with and i did everything to taking everything off and it was pretty easy and the only part that was a little of a hard task was to do the cutting from the shifter console and then connecting the shifter main cable was a headache to get both of them back to clip and working again. after that everything was pretty simple. Then finally the test drive and let me say i was suprised it feel smoother and exactly like how it says on the manual its a short shifter didn't take aslong as it usally did to shift from first all the way to fifth. I can honestly say it feels great to shift now.
I would recommend this item for the people with the 2.2 cobalt LS one of the best shifter out their as i did my little investigation as to which shifter would be better for our car.

when installing that shifter, connecting the little ball at the end of the rod into the little holder on the shifter cable was a rediculous pain in the ass.

I had a field day with this as well, in 30 degree weather! I got it done though and it feels great (had it in for about 3 weeks or so).

A definate upgrade for any 2.2!

So this product moves the entire shift pattern forward? Excellent! I may have to get one.

A couple weeks back, I got some Taco Bell meal (ones with the huge cups of soda) and holy **** did I have issues, haha. I moved the cup into the passenger cup holder and eased my way into 5th while driving to my friends house!

I got the Flat Black one (I'm trying to go for a red/black them on my balt!

I must have done something with with the boot sleeve, as part of the metal ring (where you attatch the sleeve, the smaller part of the ring) is showing. However, I actually like it like that!

Haha yea its a bitch to have a big drink and still try to shift. I had to put mine in the back seat cupholders so that it wouldnt get in the way.

Well I actually eased it into 5th by pushing the stick forward, only down lower on the knob. It worked, just have to be very careful about shifting w/big drink present. I didn't want to put it in the back cause I drive not so normal and it probably would've spilled!

its smooth like never before and the great part was that when i got stuck i called them up and their technical support was great, i'm planning to get the bombshell knob which looks awesome. If you was to fix the cupholder problem you can take everything off again and unclip and the grey clip the one on the right the main shift cable and put the car in 3rd gear and adjust the the gear were it doesn't goes as far to touch the cupholder just a suggestion thats what i did adjusted so i can sit back and shift. But definelty a great upgrade to the car.

You can actually adjust it so it sits farther back? I so need to do this. I hate crushing my coffee cup everytime I shift! Do you have and pictures from the side angle like mine of it in 3rd gear? I would be interested to see how much farther yours is away from the cup holder?

it sits back as much as the shifter cable allows you you to go which is not much but try at least its the right cable, (grey clip) unclip it and then push the the little box either all the way to the top or all the way to the back and see whats more comfortable for you.

my suggestion is get it on ebay thru their ebay store you can find it way cheaper, i experienced my first problem with the shifter today i didn't realize that when i put it in reverse it would give me problems so i realized that i had to cut it a lil bit more so it wouldn't mess with the shifter cable after that no problem everything else is pretty smooth. If anyone has problems let me know i can walk you thru it i think i've experience every problem with that shifter. I'll post picture later.

Im with this guy^^^

I got my shifter from a knockoff on ebay, it was alot easier to install than the TWM from what i have heard but i havent had a single problem from it since i got it in october so i am completely satisfied.

If you are looking to get a short shifter i reccomend that you dont rule the cheap ones out completely.

What are you talking about? mine came with a pretty nice shift knob and all of the bushings. Also it would take a lot of abuse to break mine. ive been to the track several times and shifted as hard and fast as i possibly could and still to this day have not had a single problem whatsoever.

Dont knock the ebay shifters cause personally i believe that there isnt a single thing wrong with them. Now dont get me wrong im sure that there are some on there that you may need to be wary of but mine came with all the hardware needed and all the material was good quality.

I have heard of those cheap ebay shifters snapping due to weak welds on other model cars which is why I don't trust them.

Plus they don't come with bushings or a shift knob...I'd rather get the complete package then piece it together.

Bought my TWM at about 1000 miles, hell its the first thing I did. Got 9225 on it now and I think it is the only shifter one should get. The cup holder is the only real problem but whos drinkin while bangin gears .
