Governor
ahhh since noone else can see to be nice i'll tell ya! it's controlled by the computer so the answer is no you can't do it unless you get a retune and i don't think they's cracked any of the ecu's except the SS's so i think th retune is out of the questions for now. see guys took me about 1 minute to answer him! BE NICE!!
It could have taken 30 seconds to use the search button
Anyways if you have an 07 Cobalt within 4 months you'll be able to remove it. Yet I Dont suggest doing it unless you have tires that can actually take the speed you want to put on them.

O O O O!!!! I KNOW! haha, I highly doubt the original poster has a real idea.
zbetter tires and it depends on which moddel you have cause ive heard of some people w/ 2.2 topping out at 85 and others at 120. i dont recomend going any faster than 90 with the continentals it will start to shake a bit, and possibly a blow out

Or you could show naked pictures of him with say any domesticated farm animal. This would only work for a short time, till they found out it was photoshopped.
It would be fun though.

i think the first time that i emailed them, i heard that it would be ready in march 2005???
i'd start thinking about a stand alone.
to the original poster, i have to ask the question....where the hell are you going to go more than 108 mph? i rarely ever have enough room to accelerate to even close to that.

Actually it's the tires on the 2.2L
If you have the crappy Continentals you're governed around 105 mph; if you have H-rated tires the governor is set higher but I'm not sure how I high; I think b/n 120 and 130. If you have the lower governed speed you can get some H-rated tires and see if your dealer will give you a re-flash for the higher governor; I've heard that some dealers will do this, if you get H-rated tires.

I believe I said if you have an 07 your going to be supported by HPTuners very soon. The computer is already cracked because the 07 computer is shared with another vehicle. They're in the stages of testing.
i have an 05 cobalt ls 5spd. it shuts off at 107 but feels like it has more left to go. i work at a gm dealer what update is this that you guys are talking about? if it move the limter than i want it. thoose damn neons and eclipses lose me at 107.

Now don't listen to anyone who tells you to do a VSS mod cause that can get into serious trouble with the law as its a federal crime to tamper with the odometer in ANY way.
Just get HP Tuners or if it can't do it yet wait till it can so its done the right way.
On a 2005 LS, you can upgrade your wheel and tire size, and then bring it into a dealer and they can change your limiter to 120. Its part of the speedometer calibration. The ECM program does have provisions for different wheel and tire size combinations.

I didn't have to do it because I already have the 16" wheels and the sport ECM program stock. However, I have worked with my mechanic when he had a GM programmer plugged into a Cobalt and he showed me where the speedo calibration section was and how he could tell the car the new wheel and tire sizes. The E16A could take 15-17 inch wheels with different tire sizes. If you put on 18's, you have to trick the computer with a fake tire size that approximates the total wheel diameter to get the speedo close.
