What the turbonator does is block some air flow, thus you lose power. One of those electric turbo chargers forces more air into the engine, thus you can build more power, but it needs to make atleast 3 psi of boost or you will not see a resonable gain. Also you would need to tune you ECM so it would keep A/F correct. Never seen one before.

If you want a turbo, wiat until a real one is available.

The turbonator is one of those joke products. We have known about it for a while now. It is a worthless piece of crap. There is really nothing objectively good I can say about it.

You could say they have a good advertising division for the product. I mean look at everyone thats bought them, and how widespread they are.

+1 for good advertising

What I understand is you are also drawing current from your engine/alternater soo thats never good. I believe you may also have to upgrade some elctronics too maybe? But ya those electric turbo's have been around for yrs.. Try a leaf blower .. lol

From we have seen of those kits, they are nothing but a waste of money. Only once have I ever seen an electric based forced induction system, that actually worked. The only problem was that it required about 3-4 additional car batteries in the trunk, and it was only good for about 15 second burst much like a nitrous kit, then it would have to recharge the batteries.

i will admit to falling for this one myself, i bought one and tried it when i still had my cavalier.

they're crap but some people preach them like they actually work. it would cause my cavalier to run worse than normal, even stalled out once when i was on the highway. it even caused the car to run noticably different when the thing wasnt set up to blow in the intake tube.

there are a couple out there that are actually good electric superchargers, but with the combined cost of the supercharger, the batteries to run them, and the install time, its so much easier to stick to the conventional superchargers and turbochargers. plus the batteries die quickly so they arent really good for anything more than a quick power boost.

IMO, it will be safer to stick to what has worked in the past for thousands of others. never believe any power gains from any company selling any product, look around and see what other people have to say about a product.

All those electronic superchargers are just secondary air injection lol they don't do anything for your car. And when you stick one of those rediculous metal things in your intake piping all your creating is a restriction in your airflow which will actually hurt performance. I am actually attending Wyo-Tech and our instructors explained both to us and how they are a waste of money.
