Headers

Hey, if anyone has a 2.2 with headers and catback that has ever dyno you gotta tell me what your whp was. I have OBX Racing headers, aem cai, and magna flow heavy cat with custom pipes. I beat the new lancer and an auto acura 3.2tl, (not the new tl) and i've beat a grand am GTP that was auto. Am i pullin as much as an SI, i havn't ran into one or an ss/sc.

well with the v-tec in a honda you will almost pull them off the line every time. then they catch up after v-tec kicks in. they have NO torque. but then again i have never ran a new si and they have around 200 hp so idk about that run

well, a new si is somewhere between a 2.4 and an sc. they are def faster than my 2.4 was stock. but... not by a lot.

the ss/sc absolutely rapes the new si stock for stock. I'm pretty sure the si takes it in the twisties though. skid pad #s were higher

2.2 (auto) > SI through 1st gear. after 1st gear, the 6 speed gives them a huge advantage and theyll catch up fast..probably pass you before 2nd gear is over

wow 6speeds? those crazy japs

remember the good ol 2000+ celica gts'... that car was cool cuz it had a 6speed, what was it like a 1.6l engine... still cooler than a 2.0 with a 5speed in my opinion

if u are talking about the regular si not the muggin it is only pushing 175 but they are still really quick once vtech kicks and ur stock 2.2 will not even come close but an ss/sc will most likely get it drove them both and both drove good but i have to say the ss/sc is faster....

im looking for new headers and everything for my new 2.2 that i got for my first car so if u know of anything that could help suggestions would be nice...lol had to through that in sorry

ive already raced one. with the mods i have, i did exactly as posted above. beat him off the line (they still have **** tq), and held the lead through MY 1st gear (about 40-45mph), then he started catching up pretty fast and passed me right before i entered 3rd gear (70-75mph), then we ended the race

thats my favorite thing about the new SIs, they have a 4.8:1 final drive ratio and a 6 spd manual...that gets a LOT of power to the ground, and lets em reach the higher RPMs rediculously fast. i think they have the same 3.3:1 first gear the SS S/Cs have, but i think cobalts only have a 4.0:1 final drive...and theyre missing a gear...lol

LSJ with SI tranny would be fun...minus the uber wheel hop youd be getting

yah, I can beat the SS not an SS/SC but the SS stock can't keep up with the 2.2 with headers, cai, and cat back. I've raced the new 2008 Lancer talk about all show no go. i pulled on him and kept pullin, I had a neon that looked like it just had rims came closer to me than that. I've beat'n a auto car that has 200Hp.

My wife's 03 Sunfire with automatic with 2 people in the car got very slowly pulled away from a new 08 Silverado, it had to be a turbo diesel. They are supposed to be 7 second 0-60 and only lost because when the light turned green I would have never guessed he would floor it. I lost on the reaction time and only lost by a half car!

The wife's 2.2 Ecotec has a 2 1/4 exhaust, 2 1/4 cat, and a 2 1/2 resonator plus drop in K&N filter. That guy looked twice in his side view mirror, he probably thought it was the older 2.2 SOHC Sunfire.

The wife had one of those newer Lexus 4 bangers race her and neither car could pull on each other. The guy in the Lexus also had a look of surprise on his face.

These 2.2s are pretty impressive as far as how they went from the older 2.2 SOHC that gave a 0-60 in 10 seconds to a DOHC 2.2 that does it in 8.2 seconds stock. With the 05 and newer they are even that much better being a hair under 8 seconds 0-60.

I bought my Cobalt purely because I was impressed with my wife's Sunfire having such a well balanced amount of pep along with great gas mileage. It is no race car, but with all the new bolt ons, tuning that is coming out and FAI kits on the horizon is seems like I can get this car as fast as I ever want it to be.

well if you have all of this you should know by now you dont have headers, you have a header. My modded 2.4 (at the time intake header downpipe exhaust) was dead even with a new SI from a 60-120 roll (he had what sounded like intake and exhaust) its unlikely with your mods that you beat one, because i couldnt even beat one in my 2.4 with full bolt ons, it was dead even.

OBX Racing Sports

This is more along what I was trying to find: http://www.obxracingsports.com

It's interesting that on that E-bay page it says direct bolt on, no modifications necessary.

^^ check the tq too...
a 2.4 should be a decent race for an SI...theyre not that fast, especially off the line. I pulled 2 cars on one before 35mph (im an auto 2.2 btw), he didnt catch up till about 70

he didn't know how to drive/launch. I ran an SI from a dig when i had just intake, he had an instant 1/4 car on me, i hung with him until i had to shift to 3rd then he started to pull away. the new SIs are no joke, they will rip on 2.2s if the driver knows what he's doing.. unfortunately a lot of SI drivers don't. they just get mom/dad to buy them the car then they go out and give others the false idea that all SIs are slow.
