Help me mod my car

Im somewhat knowledgable when it comes to cars. Im wondering what some good mods will be for my LS. Im going to be progressing towards the 2.2 SC when it comes out up here in canada. Hopefully sometime in Sept. But untill then what are some good mods to get. Beside exhaust which is in the works.

I'm in the same boat as you with my LS, I'm just not exactly sure where to start and how much I'm willing to sink into a car I'll most likely get rid of at some point in time. I've been looking at body kits but right now there isn't much out...you'd be much better off waiting for a year or so until the aftermarket parts really begin to show up but that's just my opinion. For the time being I'm torn between forced induction (btw were you just taking a guess on the release date of the S/C or have you talked to someone at GM Performance?) or just going with a CAI, headers, manifolds, exhaust and pulleys...decisions decisions .

Well sept. is going to be when i have the most amount of money to invest. My GM dealer said i could already order the SC. He says it should bring my car up to 214HP. The future of this car will have forced induction so im trying to figure out what to do now.

Exhaust system. Your gonna need it to flow better to allow the extra air go through since you will have forced induction. It might sound a lil high pitched now w/o the S/C but once u get that S/C it will sound badass.

You might also want to leave some extra cash on the side in case you decide to rebuild any engine components to play it safe. I'm unsure if the mainfolds, headers, etc. are any different on the 2.0L than the 2.2L but Cobalt30 is right, you're going to have to improve flow somewhere to get the full boost out of your S/C.

On a side note, if your dealer is being straight up about the HP gain of the S/C (that's like a 70hp gain) then I'm moving closer to dumping a S/C in and maybe exhaust and stopping with my mods right there...not sure though still have a lot to consider .

Exhaust is the first thing to be done for sure, but thats just a gimme. Im going with custom duel. But with whats avalable(magnaflow) I really want to stay away from the rice sounds. Anyone have any idea what it will sound like? According to the performance dealer the SC is suppose to put the 2.2 cobalt up to 214hp. Im getting goosebumps

MagnaFlow has some sound bytes on their website of a Cobalt2.2 with their exhaust, got a real nice deep sound. My parents have the 2.2 EcoTec in their 02 Alero and my dad just put a DNX carbon can on it and it sounds real deep.

I'm not sure if there are specifications but you might want to check if there is a difference in the diameter of the stock exhaust pipe vs the one shipped with the Magnaflow system (which I would assume would be the case). As well, check the form of the pipe compared to the stock (I would assume both run straight but you never know). If the stock had any bends in it I would go for the whole system as well.

Pretty much it's a judgement call if the above pass...but hell go big or go home right .

getting just a muffler will be a waste of money IMO. it will sound empty and there will no HP gains.

Always go for the full exhaust...why do half the job?
