harden gears aka oil pump ect. springs, valves, ballance shafts.. i believe theres more. but i dont see the point in going over 7500 when all the cams out there drop off up there.

balance shaft delete
Cams that make power that high
Crank pulley that can handle a 8k rev
Cam "springs"
A nice port and polish

That's the bare minimum, to get to 8k and actually make use if it

just springs and balance shaft delete/neutral. Those are the requirements, but more never hurts

on a N/A car, your doing nothing but revving the **** out of your motor.

On a supercharged car, you will make power up to redline...within reason.

Whats the point of wanting to rev to 8.1k rpms? Just to say you can?

this is what i was getting at, even most s/c'd cars dont make power past 7k at MOST, theres no point in going higher, hell most people are better keeping it at 6500

all depends. M62 cars usually dont, but TVS cars do. Also, almost none of the M62 guys have cams. I just listed what you NEED to rev that high, without getting into why you would want to, since the whys would be application specific

The LSJ makes no power above 6500 on the stock cams... on cams it doesn't make more power just holds it past 6500 with cams.

Look at the power graphs for the 2.2's in the HP thread. They all start loosing power about 5500ish

Even on the TVS the cams don't allow it to push the required air to continue to make power...

The TVS forces the air in... but the cams and valves only allow so much air to be crammed in!

regardless of the stovk cams being a restriction at those RPMs, the fact remains a TVS will make more power at 7krpms than it will at 6.5krpms even with a stock head

like someone already said, not true. I hit my max hp at 6850rpm and i have my rev limit set at 7000rpm. All i have is 2.8/60, CAI, Meth, H/E and 1 Step Colder plugs which r actualy gapped to big.

If I could find my dyno sheeet I'd show you that you'd continue to make power past 6.5k ...at least with the mods I had...(I think I hit my max at about 7K w/stock cams)

found it; yup...hit max HP at about 6.8k and stayed over 400 until about 7.3k. I guess maybe my mods could have made the difference specially the adjustable cam gears.
