Honda sound

So yesterday I noticed my exhaust got massively raspy through the entire RPM range. So I get out of the car and hear a lot of air coming out from under the car about where the DP connects to the cat-back. Well it was dark out and I decided to have a look at it in the morning. I roll under there in the morning and find this.

Yeah I don't know what happened but basically the exhaust gasket shattered like brittle plastic into 4 pieces, one of which is on the highway somewhere

So if you ever want to make your car sound like a honda for some random or strange reason, just loosen your DP bolts

Lol fixed now, I ended up getting the SS/SC gasket since I have the DP to match. If anybody ever has to replace these just get the 10 dollar one from the dealer. Cause it works for sure.

The one that was in there I have no idea where it was from. I tried buying a generic one from advanced auto but it leaked and I had to modify it to fit so I couldnt get my money back.

The GM one is a 2 piece stamped metal, far better than either of the ones I had.

lol but he didnt say that...yes there are distinct differences in the sounds of each and every cobalt out there... But your driving a 2.2 liter its going to sound raspy simple as that... Its not gonna rumble or make you wet your pants that car was not meant for anything but good gas mileage and a trip to get you back and forth from place to place simple as that....

Im not dissing the car just telling you the honest truth

Mine is deep and sounds nothing like a Honder, all the Honder guys I know are raspy as hell, especially in V-tec. Honestly my boy's RSX sounds good until he hits V-tec... then the rasp attacks.

i'm sure honda guys would say the same about their car sounding deep and 2.2's sounding like ****. deep sound is to the ear of the beholder.

to the O.P.; stop by your local hardware store n pick up a sheet of copper.

make a gasket out of that, and you will never have gasket issues again.
