How good is the Cavalier Extreme.com Turbo kit?
^ Exactly right. Under the Magnusson-Moss Act, they CAN NOT void your warranty unless the turbo kit was the exact cause of the problem. Here's an example..
You go in because paint is peeling really bad on your dash...
They see the turbo kit and say NOPE, can't do that. Well, they HAVE to fix the problem if you're still under warranty. The turbo kit DIDN'T cause the problem.
However, if your motor blows up, they wouldn't warranty it since they'd say it was modified.
Let me know if you have any questions man, I'm the owner of the company: admin@maximumboost.net

But with a good kit your motor wont blow up as long as you are running proper psi for a certain setup. Is this kit going to let me down in the long run? I dont want to pay big bucks and have it be the cause of a brand new car going to crap.
Im looking for a turbo kit as well ,since the GM supercharger isnt worth the 35 Hp. Ive been looking at this site and peoples reviews will determine where i buy my turbo. Hope to have the car turboed by sept.
Nope, you won't have any issues. If you run everything properly, like you said (around 8 psi for the Stage 3), you'll be fine. We're currently fine-tuning things right now so you don't have any type of check engine light, code, etc. That should be done within the next few weeks...
Even though we can't warranty things messing up on your MOTOR, we do offer warranties for our own products. Our turbos have a 2-year warranty against cracking and faultyness, and our intercoolers and manifolds have a 1-year.
Thanks

Yes, the kit on ebay DOES throw the check engine light.
HOWEVER, if you purchase the kit, by the time we have it available to ship (which usually takes about 3 weeks), I'm pretty sure we'll have the check engine light solved and a weld in the pipe for the sensor.
The only problem with this is that our kits are going to go up in price because of the extra labor, but only by about $100.
If you'd like, I can offer you the kit (that doesn't throw the CEL) for about $2250 Shipped to match the same kit on ebay (NO FMU INCLUDED - that's an additional $220). Just let me know: admin@maximumboost.net

so how does the Vortec 12:1 FMU work exactly? this is a little bit different from what I'm used to tuning wise (maf, injectors, chip)...does this keep the a/f around 12:1? Also what about the maf on 05+? Does this come into play with the tuning? I know on other maf equipped cars a larger maf is required for proper tuning.
Just curious.

I haven't heard of (or encountered any) problems myself with the MAF, but you're right. Most cars have a replacement, like for the Focus. On our Focus kits, it's required to purchase a new MAF (which we suggest the Pro-M from steedafocus.com).
And by the way, yes, it keeps the fuel ratio at 12:1. Or, you can always pick up a cartech FMU (I think that's the brand). It's completely adjustable. With this, you can stick your car on a dynotuner and hook up a wideband o2 to get things tuned exactly right...

I'd highly suggest some form of fuel management for sure. If you don't get the FMU, I'd suggest a fuel pressure regulator and injectors. I'd also suggest going with some type of E-Manage so you can control the fuel and air delivery from the cabin of your car, but that's completely up to you

I see you have the Vortech FMU and a fuel pump for fuel but what about the fuel injectors? Are they good enough to supply fuel for that much boost?
Anyway for all that you're offering I'd say its a good price for a kit (assuming its high quality) especially since most kits I have seen are in the $4000-$5000 range. I just hope its reliable
Thanks for the compliments
If you're only running about 6 psi, fuel injectors aren't required. However, if you plan on boosting past that, we always suggest picking some up for the extra $300. I'm trying to figure out now if the 2.2L Ecotec Cavalier injectors will work on the Cobalts...

when buying this kit would it be possible to substitute the fmu with a greddy e-manage? and is there a certain e-manage that you would reccomend for this kit? i will be using the e manage for the celica and i would like to use it for the cobalt too so i will have a familer fuel management computer and a ery reliable computer. is it possible to make the emanage an option to come with the kit with a little pretuning to run safely until it gets fine tuned, i dont mind paying extra money to do it right the first time, i know alot of people pushing upwards of 400hp with the e-manage and it works very well even on the toughest computers like the celicas, i doubt the cobalts computer will be as stubborn though.
thats cool then so when the time comes around to turbo then i will definately pay the extra for the emanage, and i cant remeber the last time ive heard of a turbo kit deleting the a/c, i highly doubt you have to remove that, some people just do it for weight reduction
i still would be careful when boosting the stock engine, pretty darn good change the GM won't do warrently repairs on the the engine itself, maybe the transmisison cuase it "wasn't made to handle a modified engine" hence your mod made the trans bad. They can be jerks and can find "reasonable justification" for most engine warrenties being voided by a turbo/Nitrous/SC ect..
AND, that is a good deal on that turbo kit (if i had the money, it didn't void the warrenty and the wife wouldn't castrate me i would get it!) Do you think you will offer color matched tubing in the future? I have the extanded warrenty but I should run it out in about 2 more years and might start modding if the wife will let me and a turbo would be my first stop.
