How Much HP Can Our 2.2 Handle

Searched couldnt find anything. Basically asking how much HP can the stock 2.2 internals/tranny handle before you need to upgrade them. Im thinking of Turbo'ing my 2008 2.2L and would like to know if its even worth it. Just looking to reach about 200WHP. Prlly only run 8-10 lbs of boost.

Thanks in Advance.

In the vicinity of 250 hp if I remember correctly. Having said that, if you are looking at reaching only 200 whp, supercharging might be a better option.

200whp could easily be achieve with a supercharger. Its much cheaper and easier to instal. Also its instant power no turbo lag. I would not waste 3k on the garret turbo kit unless you want to go big and make that 2.2L really quick. If your going to turbo I would suggest ZZP's kit. Its probally alot less money.

if you just look for 200 hp than supercharge it and the garrett kit is discontinued.

sell it and get an ss/sc or ss/tc, for all the money and time you spend, you could pick up a used ss/sc for a little more.

Why waste his time with 300, if he builds it, needs to push it to atleast 400

i see another one of those helpfull threads with a lot of info brewing.

turbo will be about $2500. supercharger $1500. I would think they both take the same time to install. People are installing pieced together supercharger kits in a FULL weekend, i turbo kit would have instructions and everything so i can't imagine it could take much longer

Used turbo kits are 1400-1100 same with used supercharger kits and people that have little experience have installed them in 1 day by themselves. All you need is eveything planned out. The right tools and some patience.
