pretty damn easy, i dont remember all the steps, but i will give it my best

loosen the pipe clamp and the vacuum hose from the intake

i dont actually remember how to take off the airbox but take out the filter and open and you should find whatever is holding it down and be able to take it off.

trust me though, its not difficult at all.

open hood

drink 2 beers

grab ahold of the intake with both hands and in a swift strong upwards stroke....... yank!

it should all come off in once piece

drink 2 more beer

throw shitty plastic intake in garbage

drink 2 more beers

stand back and enjoy your work!

lol just kidding

there is a clamp on the T/B
and three bolts at the airbox that need to be removed then it should all just come off in once piece!

The sarcasm here is not meant to be mean. They are really serious, it is in fact that easy. Here's a little more complete instructions for ya...

There are two parts to remove, the air box, and the duct. Take the duct off first. There are two hose clamps, one connecting to the air box, the other to the throttle body. Then remove the vacuum line from the valve cover. Lastly, there is a push pin on the right side above the throttle. That's it, lift it off.

Second, the air box. Open the box, remove the filter element. From there, you will see the fastners that hold the box to the car. Take off those, and that's it, your done.

it may... but, it will be just as detailed as what halfcent said, maybe with pics... there's no detailed way to explain, "remove clamp, and lift off of car." it shouldn't take any more than 5 minutes even with no car experience... take a look at where the airbox meets the throtle body... if you're not sure what that is, the airbox is that big black thing in the front/middle when you're looking under the hood... underneath that airbox is a short tube that connects to the engine, (throttle body) and there is one silver clamp that holds it in place... if you loosen it with a screwdriver, it will come right off... the part that holds the filter, which is easy to find, follow the tube from the airbox towards the left side... there is a wire sensor that sits in the tube of the airbox... it comes right out with just your hands... back to the filter, it looks like a smaller box, and getting the filter out is simple... there are 2 metal clips that just push back, and you can lift the top part of the box... take the filter out, and you'll see what's holding it in... i think it's 2 bolts... peice of cake...

as far as installing the short ram intake, it's easy... you connect the tube to the throttle body, tighten it, put in the maf, (that wire thing that you pulled out of the tubing)

to simplify, loosen 2 clamps, remove 2 bolts, and take the ****** out... then, put the sri on the throttle body, and tighten... game over

awesome sounds easy enough... does the stock intake go all the way underneath the passenger headlights? also is it possible to overtighten the clamps?

There is a secondary tubing part to the intake on the 2.2/2.4 that fits down in the bumper... if you want to get it out you'll have to remove the inner wheel well liner. Also, don't wait for the GM intake... there are plenty of good CAI/SRI options out there now for the 2.2 and 2.4.

And YES you can overtighten the clamps.. tight is good... but too tight can crack the plastic.

once i take the top part of the air intake off, won't i be able just to reach in and take that peice in the bumper off aswell? Also, should i place the sensor i peice of cloth when i take the sensor out of the intake? I don't want to damage the sensor or get it dirty... I'm going to wait for the gm intake because i def don't want to void my engine warranty.

Okay, take a deep breath and relax. You are honestly over thinking this whole thing. If you want to wait, thats fine. You will not void any part of your warrenty by using an aftermarket part. If you are concerned about doing the work yourself, get a friend that knows a little more about working with tools and have them help you. This is really, honestly, a very easy job.

dude, where in new york are you? i'm in north new jersey... if you're not that far, i will help you with this.. if you are too far, post in the regional forums, and i'm sure there's someone close that will help... as far as the stock resinator, you can't just pull it out... you have to pull back the fenderliner, which easily pulls back after you remove a few bolts... then, the resinator if i remember correctly is just kinda hooked on... give it a good tug and it will come off...

Oiled is better. Cleans better overall.

you don't clean a dry filter, u replace it.

the only dry filter that I know of thats any kind of decent are the open cell filters, and think they're just cleaned with soap and water. I could be wrong though since I've never had any personal experience with them.

I don't get your question. Every intake made for the car has mounting provisions for the sensor. If you are just putting a cone on the end of the snorkle, don't. You will do better with an aftermarket drop in filter designed for the factory air box. You don't want to screw with the MAF sensor.
