Intake Manifold

Hey guys it has been awhile since I have ask a question but I finally got a good one. I cannot find the answer anywhere, not even on google. I am wanting an aluminum intake manifold, not the racing GM one. I want one just so I can polish it and have my engine bay look pretty. If anyone knows where I can find the tech specs on this so I can have one custom made or if someone knows where I can buy one. Thanks again.

Where did you get it from? Also can't wait until you try and fit it, it sounds like what I am looking for.

Saab, Hahn, GM Racing, Venom all make manifolds.

GM Performance makes blank flanges so you can fabricate your own.

I've "heard" about a Venom intake manifold ever since I owned my 2003 Sunfire. Word was it was never actually made...

One is pictured on the venom preformance website and according to them it WAS only for the 01-04 2.2 ecotec Cavalier. I tried to acquire one, to try it on my 06 2.2 (since the gaskets are the same for both TB and mounting - and the dimensions of the engine bay are close) - but found a salesman who said they had been recalled and were no longer available. If you want a lesson in futility try calling the venom 1-800 number -- they are not customer-friendly!

Yeah, I read about stuff like that on the JBO awhile back. There is a part number for the manifold, and salespeople and customer service people will tell you they were available, but I've never seen a pic of one or a posting of anyone who ever actually had one. Saw a few posts from people adamant that they were never made and it was all bs. Doesn't matter either way I guess

I didn't know that there were SAAB manifolds available though. That's neat. So what are the benefits to running a SAAB manifold? Smoother? Flow more air? Just to look pretty?

The benefit of the Saab manifold is its metal. So it can handle pressure (boost) and have fuel run through it without worrying about cracking it.

would the saab mani be any kinda upgrade for a non boosted 2.2///// im runnign a custom header back and not trying to go race or anything (geoff u know my car) but the exhaust is kinda pointless without building the motor and especially getting more into the motor (intake) so i igured the manifold would be a nice add on and the plastic mani just bugs me..... will this one bolt right up and work fine with no customizing?

Well, you could certainly use it. But it won't do anything for you normally aspirated. It's not a performance adder, it's a supporting mod.

Could you use it to support a direct port nitrous setup?

Agreed....it's really not a good idea to boost through the plastic intake -- it's glued together! Saab/GM went with the cast aluminum intake for the turbo application. For N/A cars the long runners of the plastic intake probably help with the HP at higher RPM. The short runners of the Saab intake would probably hurt a little bit on the top end. Primarily it would be good polished or painted on an N/A car.

As for Saabpartsdirect saying that it is not available to them -- that is a change, as I called them about 2 months ago and the story then was that they didn't stock it but could order it for me.
