Intake Manifold from CrateEngineDepot.com

Ok so CrateEngine Depot.com has an intake manifold for the ecotec engine. it is a fabricated alluminum intake and it accepts a 75mm LS1 Throttle Body. Heres my question. Does anyone have this part installed. and if so how do you like it? I know they also sell the 2.4 intake but i prefer a metal intake over a plastic intake manifold.

Unless you are planning on runnin n02 the plastic one will be more than just fine, by dammit it may be better.

I am pretty sure the plastic is lighter than the metal one...just food for thought

even with nitrous you dont need metal. Maybe metal at 20psi + of boost

to use the larger tb, you have to tune for it. Otherwise get ready to drive around in limp mode...

or boost. Basically if you're going to stay na you could stay with plastic. Maybe move to the 2.4 intake. If you're going to run nitrous or boost above 7-8psi it would be wise to go to a metal manifold.

A plastic intake manifold is better then a metal one with n2o, if the nitrous pre-ignites the intake manifold will absorb alot of the force, if it's metal, you'll likely crack your head.

Plus, there would be no point in installing an LS1 TB. That would slow the air velocity too much. Plus, you can't tune for the larger TB.

Red face plastic intake

the plastic mani is not always the best bet when it comes to N2O. I have seen Cobalts have it back fire on them while they were racing and blow the manifold apart

2.4 mani should be able to stand a 75 shot easy, since they are a 1 piece design

True, but I'd rather blow a cheap plastic manifold then break something else that's worthmuch more money.

Not if you're running 500 whp like that manifold is designed for...

Will this mod be possible on a 09 2.2l? Or do they only fit the earlier trims?

CED makes a 2.4 Intake Manifold kit, you will want that kit instead of this

Can't use an LS1 TB on a cobalt unless you have a standalone.

A hahn or vulcan piece would work assuming the PCV ports line up.
