Sounds like an exhaust leak to me.. Cause if it was internal your knock sensors would be cutting power and you would have a serious problem!

My thoughts too, but not sure how changing an axle would cause it, I guess it could be a coincidence

IonNinja 03-17-2013 10:15 PM

actually, I did throw a knock sensor code when I drove it today. i'll have to pull the code when I get home

IonNinja 03-17-2013 11:49 PM

It's P0326 Knock sensor 1 circuit performance

also throwing P0171 System too lean (bank 1)

As of now though the knock sensor CEL has turned off

Pleass 03-18-2013 01:21 AM

why do you have false knock?
did you upgraded your motor and tranny mount?

turbosmart4 03-18-2013 08:37 AM

Upgraded trans mounts give u false knock?

IonNinja 03-19-2013 12:25 PM

So it's not an exhaust leak lol. Ran my OEM LSJ manifold with no downpipe and noise is still there.

The only thing left is something on the bottom end or I was even thinking a really fubar'd TOB. I just can't understand why either of those would cause the car to run lean. At idle my LTFT are like ~27

I'm lost =/

yes it can

1LowLS 03-19-2013 07:59 PM

What's vacuum at,at idle?

IonNinja 03-20-2013 11:58 AM

19in. hg

Spanky's Monkey 03-20-2013 12:22 PM

is that coming from the blower? i recall some years back hearing a vid like yours and the guys blower was bad. in his case it was sold to him in that condition. i know i've been outta the game for a minute and i'm just trying to help.

bmxracerchamp12 03-20-2013 01:38 PM

no his is all motor noise. i would check out your bottom end and make sure nothing went bad down there

1LowLS 03-20-2013 02:34 PM

Seems a tad low. Mines at 20-21 ay idle. You may have a small leak causing the afr issue. As for the noise,id have to hear iit in person .

klutch814 03-20-2013 02:43 PM

i wanna say its sc related ..not sure though. thats very odd noise lol

bmxracerchamp12 03-20-2013 03:45 PM

he took the belt off and started the car and it was there.. its got to be in the bottom end

1LowLS 03-20-2013 10:32 PM

Everything in the bottom end is new except crank main bearings.he's on stock clutch components with tons of miles.

armcclure 03-20-2013 10:37 PM

Tob?

1LowLS 03-20-2013 10:51 PM

Possibly

bmxracerchamp12 03-21-2013 07:02 AM

i expect that. my stock clutch doesnt like the 2.8 at all. so i cant imagine his

1LowLS 03-21-2013 02:29 PM

Yea his clutch has been through tons of nitrous and now 2.7 pulley on e47

IonNinja 03-21-2013 06:20 PM

I haven't touched the car in 2 days but I'll check some other stuff today.

TOB was my second guess but other issues are throwing me off

IonNinja 03-22-2013 05:11 AM

So I threw the car on ramps and started it, then got underneath...its definitely coming from the engine FML

It sounds just like this to me

bmxracerchamp12 03-22-2013 07:07 AM

well i would say crank bearings since its the only thing you havent really replaced. but double check and make sure those rod bearings didnt go

usafcobalt 03-22-2013 08:42 AM

Well ninja if it makes you feel any better I have a spare crank that's good and main bearings are only 30 bucks. The crank is 2.2 anything pre 07
