how u can drop the compression? Swap out the pistons.

that will lower your compression. You dont have to lower your compression to go turbo, just don't run as much boost. The stock pistons can't handle alot of boost on high compression, but if your tune is good, you can make just as much power on low boost with high compression, as you would on lower compression and higher boost

soo basically ill b fine with a good tune but with low boost and high compression... but if i wanna up the boost i need 2 lower the compression by adding the pistons? srry i am new 2 turbo i just bought head studs so the motor can take alil beating and i may buy an mls gasket just 2 b 100% safe. wat is the stock thickness of the head gasket? and would 8lbs b good with a good tune?

I would research the breaking points of the engine a bit before you start buying parts for them. A head gasket and head studs are not needed if those are the only thing your putting into the car. people buy those so they can reassemble their cars after building the bottom end. The parts your going to want to worry about are pistons and rods, but on 8 psi, you wont need to upgrade anything. the L61 can hold 250hp on stock everything pretty well. Once rods and pistons are upgraded, your pretty set for 500hp as far as break points, though at that point your going to want to do things like port the head, etc.

The only wahy that a head gasket will drop the compression is if it is thicker than the origional gasket. It would have to be much thicker to affect the compression to any extent.

they make them. Hahn has a good example. They use a thick head gasket to reduce compression in their solstice/sky turbo kit from 10.4:1 to 9.X:1. this is for the 2.4l ecotecs of course.

Yes a different head gasket will change compression, but lower compression pistons is what you want.

stock headgasket I believe is .040"

thats what I run with with my Cometic head gasket

as a general rule, thinner headgasket will slightly raise compression and thicker of course will lower it. whether or not it will be a significant change or not, I can't comment.

also head studs are not a bad idea, I doubt you'll be running enough boost on stock bottom end to lift the head though

I have never even heard of such a thing... Learned something new today.
