Maybe well installing the belt he was going to add an aftermarket poly engine mount? I'm guessing here.

no my engine mount is long and sticks to the front of the car then any other cobalt ive ever seen and it bolts into the engine so even if i got aftermarket it wouldnt work with the mount on the engine , i was gonna grind it but it wont go far enough with out hitting the second bolt i need 05 cobalts to chime inhttp://

That mount is different. I guess for now you'll have to rock the stock engine mount. If you want something stiffer, you can fill rubber opening with window weld to stiffen up the stock mount.

thats his mount guys, hmm...i can only assume its hitting the tensionor pulley? you may need to convert over to a 06+ style mount...

now if im right here , ive looked over the car and i no from the paint job on it it was in a front end car accident now the cobalt engines and saturns used the same engine style but different internals( composite pistons) plus engines mounts but both engines are changeable to cobalt or ion . so what im thinking is my cars was smashed fixed , engine was shot , found a junk yard engine(ion) and through it in and called it a day and now i got the delemia

that piece that bolts to the block, that than bolts to your mount, that is interchanable between models, you can go find a 06+ and take theirs along with their mount and you will be fine..but still what is the problem???? is it hitting a pulley?

From what I can tell the Ion's used the same mounting as the Cobalt. Not sure where or when that mount was used.

Early 05s had a different style mount, youll need to get the 2nd design mount and the proper bolts.
