Thumbs down MRZ Pulley Fail (pictures)

Went to Steve's (FASTL61) house today to install my used lightweight crank pulley from MRZ that I bought off of interviewatruins who's parting out his car. We (Chris, blackbalt06) went to put it on and eventually achieved the goal. I went for a test drive (about 2 miles) and everything felt fine. I could feel it pull a little faster nothing too great though. Then took it back out for the BK lounge (1 mile) and drove back to Steve's house. I went to leave and as we were outside Steve mentioned that it smelled like oil I turned my car on and my lights showed where I was previously parked and a trail of oil throughout his neighborhood. Almost all my oil had come out. Chris and Steve then took the MRZ pulley off and the stock one back on and we noticed something.

Notice the very clear silver ring...

Another view

Now look at the stock one, No Ring indentation at all (I did not take this pic) Stock one is on the left

This is the obvious reason why it was leaking oil everywhere. Has anyone else had this problem? I know I want my money back because this is ridiculous. Any other MRZ pulleys like this one or was I just sold a bad used one? And how was his car not poring out oil if mine was? Im not trying to point fingers at anyone here but seriously WTF mate?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

are we talking the full silver ring further down the shaft or the one that is faded and rubbed right near the flat part?

I was not able to get under my car to do my MRZ Lightweight pulley swap so my mechanic installed it.
It's been over a year now and I never had any oil leaks related to my MRZ Pulley. They make great quality parts and if there is a problem with the part they will want to know about it.

You did not re-use that 1 large bolt that holds the pulley did you?

you damaged youre crank seal on the crank. it happened to me as well. whenever you change youre underdrive pulley/crank pulley u need to get a new crank seal. very simple fix. its not MRZ's Fault

Thats not from 3 miles of a damaged seal. All crank pulleys will eventually get a groove in them, It appears to me that you were sold a worn out one.

Sad to see your so quick to blame MRZ when you need a new crank seal.

Actually the same exact thing happened to me. I had one of these on and it made a groove in the shaft(LOL!!) as well.

The have an updated version now where the shaft is hardened or something like that. I ended up just puttin my stock pulley back on with a new crank seal

Thanks guys, and yeah definitely was sold a worn out one because that grove is actually quite thick. I will have to talk to MRZ and see if maybe they will replace it or something.

The original owner had it for less than a year...maybe 8 months IIRC. I dont think he put a lot of miles on the car either.

Looks like he had it long enough to put a grove in it unfortunately...

Yeah I find it funny how the stock one holds oil in and my cars never leaked oil before to putting this worn out pulley on and oh no oil is everywhere...

Ya I was looking at the seal when I pulled the MRZ back out and the seal is in perfect condition.Chris agreed with me as well. The large groove in the pulley was right where the seal sits.Im not saying MRZ pulleys sucks but just make sure there not grooved as shown and if you buy one new, keep an eye on it.

We have corrected the wear issue from the oil seal by putting a steel ring in this area to avoid any wear, steel being a lot more resistant. The new pulley have beeen out for a year now and they are performing amazing with no leak.

We will replace any pulley that have this problem with the new pulley we manufacture. Just email us directly at sales@mrzperformance.com and we will exchange your worn pulley with a new one.

We are the only manufacturer to include the Leak-proof steel ring on the pulley.

We stand behind our products, so if you have any problem or questions please contact us.

Here are the new design, pay attention to the steel ring in the oil seal area:
