my experence with fujita
my experence with fujita
ok i put the fujita intake in my car tonight and then took a 30-40 mile ride home
tools i used :
phillips and regular screwdriver
10mm socket with a 3/8 drive ratchet
10mm wrench
pliers
allen wrench (supplied with intake for new MAF mounting hardwear)
the install
well this caught me off gaurd, when i bought the F5 intake, i assumed it was a short ram intake ( meaning air filter in the engine bay for the noobs), well i was wrong, this intake connects to the stock air plentum (the large black peice connected to the throttle body) and runs behind the bumper just like a cold air intake..
the install itself was very straight foward, there were step by step instructions if your not mechanically inclined, i think i looked at them once, the pictures were kinda too small to really be useful, but if you read it, it all makes sence, when putting this intake in, i suggest getting a little peice of foam for where the intake puping leaves the engine bay, and goes into the wheel well, its kinda a tight area that looks like it could wear a hole in the piping over time. and i did unplug the battery while doing this to try help avoid a check engine light
the after results
well after being suprised at what this intake really was, i wasnt sure what to expect from it, when i first started it, it studdered a bit and i was afraid i was gonna get a Cel, but it evened out, i think it did this cause the computer was relearning things after being unpluged...when i first started driving it, i kept it in low rpm's hoping the car would get used to this air and not throw a cel
the sound was nice, this intake isnt a super loud intake like my g/f's AEM one on her sunfire, at idle you can hear it sound a lil bit throaty , crusing down the hwy..its accually quieter then it was in stock form, which im really happy about, when i open it up, it sounds very sporty..and the butt dyno says it definetly has some more pull uptop where the 2.2 seems to struggle for air
on my ride home i noticed somthing very suprising, my car was running sooooo much smoother then it was before, quieter, smoother and just sounding like a newish car should, i kinda used to have a sputtering problem once in awhile, and i think it may have just been running pig rich, and this evened it out a bit
im really happy with fujita and its cobalt intake, and the hat they send with it is a very sharp looking hat, havent tried the NOS energy drink that comes with it yoo

update, i did get a cel , it was the lean one, i cleared it, we will see if it comes back, ill recheck all my conenctions this weekend (when i get home from work its already dark), i think it being so cold increases my chances of getting a cel as well
I highly recommend that you bend over the metal where the tube enters the wheel well. Also along the top right side too if the pipe comes close to that as well. I've seen many a pics of intake tubes rubbed through and many others where I pointed it out to them since they never seen it. Take a hammer and fold it over then take a set of channel locks or small vice grips to complete the bend. Doing this will give you an extra finger width or so which will prevent rubbing.
Even if its not touching now, it will rub since the engine flexes and the intake will move with it.
