My Pacesetter Review

Well i finally put my header and all i can say is wow. guys this car really seemed to wake up. The install was kind of a bitch by myself but i got it on properly with no leaks. Like i said the car really woke up in the higher rpm's and it made it sound quite a bit nicer too!

Big thanks to Aaron at Turbotechracing.com for all his wisdom and a great deal on the product

I was looking at the Pacesetter as well.

On the LT1 Camaros, a few guys on the site have Pacesetter long tubes, and they really like them. Not the best, but for the price, damn good.

I had the pacesetter exhaust and i just took it off and guess what i found?
the welds on the mid pipe hanger are broken, making a huge hole in the pipe.
i was pissed!

the headers might be alright but I can tell you from first hand experience that the cat back SUCKS!!!! I thought it sounded good....lol thats rediculous and it rotted out after 8 months and I wash my car religously so salt never sits on it......plus it added no power....I just switched to the Magnaflow cat back.....WOW It actually gave a seat of the pants power increase....the car pulls so much harder from 3600rpm all the way to redline!! Plus it sounds mean as hell!!! I know that pacesetter is cost effective but if your looking to spend that money and then some in the future..... I wouldnt go with pacesetter for anything....just my opinion, for what its worth.....

That is normal with any header.

The stock manifold is thick case iron. Is muffles the exhaust sound.

A header uses "tubes" and does not muffle the sound....

i have the pacesetter cat back on my car and am looking to put a new pacesetter header on my car this summer along with a high flow cat. will the pacesetter header attach to my stock downpipe or does pacesetter include all the necessary parts? this will be my first time replacing the header on a car in case it wasnt obvious enough

i hated the way my car sounded with the pacesetter header...

that hissing/ticking sound makes the exhaust sound like crap IMO...much happier with an LSJ manifold

All headers will give a tick sound.... It is due to the header being made from tubes...

Cast Iron manifolds are great for NVH purposes for that reason exactly.

My Camaro ticked under acceleration, it had Edelbrock mid-tube headers.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but could I use an exhaust clamp for the time being for the flange/stock downpipe until i get it welded?

so how do you guys think that the pace setter header compares to an LSJ header? in terms of gains? I was going to get the pace setter one but went with the LSJ one instead...

pacesetter 1 3/4" primaries, got the black painted one, decided to paint it over with some 1200* paint...apperantly i ddint sand it down to well so it all burned off anyway...need to go back and coat it again
