need help.... -___-
heyy guyss i have a 07 cobalt ls, a few days ago one of my pistons blew....
now i have a dilema on my hands i wanted to turbocharge my engine and was close, now i can either rebuild the engine with better internals, or buy a new engine, so my question is what would be the best way to go from here, either buying the 2.0 engine, or rebuilding mine.

why would you get he 2.0 engine? that invovles alot of work to get it hooked up and plus youre droppin displacement. just rebuild your engine wit at least pistons and rods and youll be set
The 2.0 comes with forged internals and a steel crank from the factory. Its set up for boost out of the gate. The stroke is where the displacement is lost but honestly loosing 12 cubic inches isn't that big a deal. Getting the motor in isn't the issue, getting it running properly however is a maybe. You may have to go so far as to rewire/replace most, if not all the modules in the car to get everything to play nice. Detailed research would be required.
Rebuilding the old motor is a much cheaper and easier idea. I believe transplanting an entire LSJ bottom end is out of the question because the flywheel/flexplate mounting is different. So really all you can do on the rebuild is get some forged pistons and rods. A steel crank would be a good idea but I don't believe its really necessary.
