Need help deciding what to do next for power

I cant figure out what to do next as far as power goes. These are my performance mods so far:

Inejn Intake
Vibrant header/dp/hf cat
2.5 exhaust
Trifecta tune

Even after all this work, it feels like i have less power than the car came with. So what should I do next to get some more power? Im really lost as far as that goes.

This is EXCLUDING NITROUS AND BOOST. I just dont want to deal with those, nor do I have the money for a turbo kit.

Any suggestions would be great, I really want to get this car moving a little...

I wouldn't mess with them if you don't have a lot of experience with taking motors apart. lol I'd be scared to do them myself. Plus it will need to be retuned. However, this is probably one of the best bang for buck things you can do without boost or going bottle fed

Weight reduction: lose the heavy 18's. 2.4 Intake manifold. In my opinion, I personaly think your exhaust system is to big, losing a lot of Torque. All of you power is way up there in the higher RPM. Set of cams is the best way to go now.

True, but OP don't be missed lead by that thread. That person is also building his motor. My question to the OP. What year model is your car. 05-06 2.2L, comp cams are the way to go. 07-08 you would need to shorten the Exhaust side of the Com Cam to fit with you Time Position Senor. 09+ no luck, intill some company makes a cam for the new head that supports VVT.

My bad me < reading. Just buy the Stage 1 comp cams from TTR, and have the dealership put them in. Stage 1 are direct swap. Don't need tuning to drive it. But tune will net more power for you.

2.4 manifold wouldnt be a bad idea. You really think its too big? I am able to switch to a 2.25 exhuast even though I have the vibrant header and all of that? I though it had to be the same size all the way through

No, unfortunately I have it set up for the short ram right now. I dont really want to take of the front bumper to do a cold air. I do need a new filter though, Mine is pretty trashed mostly because of the weather and dust here.

Yeah I have an 05. I could always ask the dealership if they would be up for installing cams. Is it a pretty big job?

lawl, my car has just been revived after being down for 5 wks due to self cam install...fixed now and has gobs of power...but i also have alot more mods then that to back them up
cams are not that easy especially since you have to time the engine...
i would suggest intake mani, tb, lightweight pullies and go from there
it may feel like less...but i garauntee its more then stock

You dont have to take off your front bumber buddy...all u need to do is kinda take the wheel well off and you can finish the piping...on the other hand cams for power would be you best bet and 2.4 mani and throttle body but again you need a tune...def go to 2.25 exhaust

1. I am not saying it is too big. It just depends on where you want your power to kick in. A lot of the 2.2L's that are boosting or boosted have 2.50" exhuast systems. I just think they primarys for the Vibrant header and downpipe are best for the LSJ's. Vibrant does make good quality stuff.

2. You do not have to take off your front bumber to put the extra elbow on to convert the injen from short ram to cold air. Jack up your car, take off passenger wheel. Take 7-9 mm???, pull off guard up and over your brakes when you pull out the screws. From there you have plenty of room to work with, without having to pull the front bumper off.

3. Yep, just find some dealership that would do some work. Looking about 1-2 hrs worth of work to install. If they know what they are doing.

I would reccomend nitrous, but you say you're not ready/interested in injection or FI. 75 shot is perfectly safe.

So pretty much I have to get rid of my vibrant setup for a 2.25 exhuast, correct? I'll also set up the cold air whenever I get the chance. Hows the difficulty installing the 2.4 manifold?

Yeah nitrous would be really cool..but I dont know about that yet.

Your 2.5 is fine.. Its not worth replacing for the tiny difference it would make.. If you don't want to boost. look into the 2.4 manifold, 2.4 throttle body, weight reduction and maybe even cams then when your all done a retune
