Actually if you got the cobalt withen the past 30 days the loan is not on your credit yet so you can go and get another loan then sell that car. I've done this b4.

There is a 2.2 in my car club that spanks the crap out of my car. He is running in the low 13s high 12s.

I have an automatic so no clutch. I don't mean I literally don't move, I'm trying to say that there is absolutely NO pick up, and its definitely something I'm missing

There is something missing for sure, it sounds like you're missing a pedal.

I really hope the poster above isn't serious.

As others have said boost it, either supercharge or turbo.

I'd go turbo personally, in the classifeids there is a base cobalt with a nasty turbo set up that was one hell of a sleeper. I'd PM him and talk to him about it, he did a really good job.

Joel

P.S. Lmfao at the missing a pedal.

I say don't engine swap, but if you're willing to go into uncharted territory, go for it. It hasn't been done, but someone has to be the first. It WILL be cheaper and easier to build the engine and turbo it though.

no it's not new. like i said before i had my truck and the thing was a beast i would hit the gas hard and really push it.. knowing i bought a 2.2 v4 car i knew i wasn't getting the same power. but after all the driving i do i really noticed the things like a scooter compared to my truck and i miss the power.

as far as the engine swap i was actually looking into engines and they're going for about 2k from companys online who test them and have "warrantys" on them. i figure your right on being cheaper building the engine

glad its not new, haha, just wanted to cover all the bases. yeah having twice as many cylinders will make a bit of a difference. whatever you decide to do make sure you post a build thread, and dont be afraid to email zzp or turbo tech with questions, both companies have great customer service.

You can definitely build the 2.2. Sure you're going to need to beef up the internals a bit if you plan on pushing past 250BHP, but it can be done.

A lot of these peoples are fools, get NOS and a dvd player with fast and furious and you will have 5000 points of street cred afterwords. not even the cops will mess with you.

also does anyone have the weight of a dakota R/t with the 250 hp engine. cause take that; now measure that with the cobalts 2800ish weight/ then caculate how much hp/lb each car has. cause then you would know how much hp you need to be equivalent with your dakota and keep your gas milage.

who knows, if your under 250 hp a lot of people get by with just a clutch with there turbo. and considering the dakota was 250 hp, rwd and heavier; you won't need as much.

/end thread

I actually looked up the weight when I looked at this thread the first time, I think it was like 3400 lbs or something, still a better power to weight than a 2.2 cobalt.

black on, don't be giving him false info, everyone knows the spoiler doesn't add horsepwer. It just adds downforce to your car for better handling when you are going 35 swerving through traffic; cause you need some new diapers for your friend. Who's been talking so much **** you need to cover it up.

seriously when i added a high rise spoiler that i stole from my friends civic (he had it connected to his car via v-tec bumper stickers) I noticed i can pass people in town without hardly any body roll. i will admit the extra downforce does increase my RWHP in my cobalt though. it's almost 80 in the front 20 in the rear awd now!

and the street cred value goes by age. 14-17 it's 5 million points, 18-21 5000, 22-25 500 and 26-99 it actually can lose points. but it's ok as long as you are watching fast an furious while you drive with your dvd player.

TL;DR put screens on the head rest of your front seats, then remove the rear passenger seats to take out weight. that's worth a gillion points.
