No name eBay cat back review

I searched and saw that a few base models on here had purchased eBay cat backs before, but never saw more than a post here or there. I decided to pull the trigger on a no name eBay cat back for my LT.

Here is the exact one I purchased

http://www.ebay.com/itm/05-10-Chevy-Cobalt-2-2L-Cat-Catback-Muffler-Exhaust-Full-System-Kit-Flat-Chrome-/141122237772?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ACobalt&hash=item20db8a754c&vxp=mtr
Ordered it 6 days ago and it came this morning! Great turn around.

Unboxed, in between the cat inspecting it.

Welds look good and solid. Not perfect dimes, but there was no leaks anywhere. Nice and light, bends looks great. Overall I was impressed so far.

After fiddling with the rusted to hell stock exhaust bolts and a bit of sawzall action I got the stock pipes off. After having my fun running around town on an open downpipe I tossed the new one on. It took only about 15 minutes to button it up. Fits perfectly in the stock hanger locations, and fitment is spot on! I've always ran custom exhausts on previous cars so having a perfect fit bolt on option was awesome.

After a few hours of banging laps around downtown GR and a few highway runs I have nothing but great things to say! Sounds exactly what I was hoping for. Nice and quiet at idle. No drone at cruising speeds. Nice little pop under decel (I know some people don't like the popping/backfire noise, but I love it). I haven't taken any videos yet seeing as I don't want to set my D7000 down in the rain, but I promise them as soon as it stops raining.

Overall I would definitely recommend it to anyone with a base model looking for a nice cat back. I'll have to see how it holds up through the Michigan winters. If anyone else with one of these no name cat backs has anything to say then speak up!

edit: Here's a link to a quick vid. Warm start. Mind you I do have an auto, so noise under load will be different.

I've really been considering buying this exact exhaust for about the last month or so. After reading your review here I am definitely going to buy it and I hope my experience is just as great as yours. Thank you for the great and detailed review! People need to do more helpful reviews like this with pictures.

EBay has some great hidden gems for anything, which I love. Another plus: it's flanged at all joints, main reason why I bought my ark at the time. Clamps are a waste of time.

Have you thought about doing a quick video of you pulling away? I'm still curious as to how loud it is when accelerating.

Nothing wrong with taking a risk and making out! Congrats!

Wonder how well it will hold up with the MI winters though?

That's next on my to do list. I have Friday off and it's supposed to be nice out so I'll probably take one then!

I bought a ebay exhaust myself. The knock off Tsudo N1 and I'm happy with it. Gives off that nice rumble that I was looking for and it doesn't sound raspy what so every when getting on it. I'm 100% happy!

I'm thinking of getting that same exhaust in the next little bit, it sounds pretty good, also want to hear what it's like while driving.

I bought the same one (from 4CarOption), $176 and change to my door here in Canada and 10 days from order being processed as well. Kind of hard to keep it quiet, but quiet isn't what I was going after.

By the way, I wasn't really getting into the gas on this one, I can do a better one if anybody wants one.
