Now that we have some tuning

I know it would be cheaper to just buy a S/C off somebody here and get all the pieces together.

But is there any way to get a good GM discount on the J-body supercharger kit?

Cause that would be nice to get all brand new stuff at a discount.

Then just get some tuning going and should be set.

There are several guys that are supercharged. Some with tuning and one without.

They are all still running as far as I know.

I'm not really asking if it can be done

I wantt to know how we could pick up a GM kit for the ecotecs for a lot cheaper.

Possibly CED or a great member

Well the main reason I don't want to go turbo is price and install. I don't want to mess with my manifold and stuff again. I'm pretty sure I can do the super install in a a weekend with a few friends.

What sort of a "deal" are you looking for? What's a good price for one of those J body setups?

well the going price is about 3000, but with the discount CED shows us, I wonder if they can do their GM discount with a markup for us.

That would bring and M62 within reach for a decent price.

The C.E.D. price is less than my GM Dealership employee price. They are selling the kit for only $200 over GM Dealership cost. It's the best deal you wil find I'm sure.

I could match it if anyone in AZ wants to buy one. I hope that doesn't violate any rules......?

Sorry I had never really looked to see if they had the kit available.

Here It is

http://www.crateenginedepot.com/stor...3-P1377C0.aspx

What else is needed to get the car going besides tuning?

A/F guage
boost guage?

I wouldn't bother with the cavi supercharger kit because it uses a smaller blower than the Cobalt SS's Stock M62

Well isn't it a good option because we don't really need a lot of cooling with it.

Or is that a wrong statement.

I mean can't we just bolt that thing on with no intercooler and get it tuned and be in pretty good shape.

A fully bolted Cobalt with the M45 or whatever would make well over 200bhp right?

Doubt it.

Most likely good for 180whp. Anything more than that would be pushing it.

well i said engine HP.

I just feel like it would be right up my alley for simplicity, cost and turn around.

ALso I'd be less worried about a blown engine and a little more reliable with that much power.

I have an M62 and reliability is not an issue if aftercooled.

You have an M62 on what? Is your sig not accurate? Or is there a 2.4L SC Manifold?

alright so what kinds of issues do the cavy-sunfire guys have with the kit as far as longevity.

I understand the M62 must be cooled.

But does the M45 really kill the internals of a 2.2 without cooling?

the gm discount brings the kit down to 1500+state tax, what is needed besides the kit is a wideband o2 to monitor a/f ratios...and a heat exchanger would be nice seeing as how i dont think the kit comes with one....hell go buy a cobra one, im sure that will help make a few more ponies
